   An attempt to woo Tamil and LTTE war widows. This practice is most common in the north and east and not elsewhere. In other parts women don’t directly get loans from unregistered lenders in this day and age. Banks, particularly, People’s Bank is very popular elsewhere. Loans owed to registered lenders cannot be cancelled!

   How can he do that ? Ranil and UNP government is still there until February. He has no ministry under him, not even the ministry of defence.

   Only way to do it is to pump in some personal wealth within a week OR having a secret pact with UNP.

   Very good point. It cannot be done! Simple. And the 2020 budget allocation will obviously not have it either. The next president cannot hold a ministry.
