Let us solve problems in a civilized manner – The Telecommunications Commission replies to Ajith P.’s allegations

The Director General of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, Shamal Jayatilaka says he expresses his regret and displeasure at the irresponsible and unbecoming manner in which the non-cabinet Minister of Digital Infrastructure Facilities and Information Technology Ajith P. Perera behaved at the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission office premises.

This was issuing a news statement on the allegations being made by the non-cabinet Minister.

Non-Cabinet Minister Ajith P. Perera had arrived at the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission together with a group of lawyers and media personnel yesterday to resolve a problem regarding obtaining a short telephone number on behalf of the Presidential Candidate of the New Democratic Front Sajith Premadasa.

Later he had made many allegations in connection with this, and the Director General said that among the responsibilities he has been assigned, relevant to regulating work in the field, he has to participate at a number of meetings outside the office.

The Director General of the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority Shamal Jayatilaka said that during such an instance the non-cabinet Minister had arrived at his office and said that he had fled into hiding causing dishonour to his reputable post.

At the same time, it is mentioned in the statement issued that regretfully it is informed that the lawyers who had arrived with the non-cabinet minister had behaved in a manner that disrupted the work of female officers engaged in their duties.

The Director General of the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority Shamal Jayatilaka has pointed out further in the statement issued that if any problem regarding duty has arisen, civilized society and citizens engage in more advanced approaches in order to resolve the problem and that a problem can be solved in a far better manner.
