Sri Lanka Health Ministry says all 59 COVID-19 patients in stable condition

Colombo, March 19 (newsin.asia) – All 59 patients who have to date tested positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka are in stable condition and are being treated by a senior medical team of doctors and nurses and are under close observation, the Health Ministry said.We are satisfied with the state of recovery of all patients so far. No one is in a critical condition,” the Ministry official said.

On Thursday Sri Lanka detected 7 more virus-infected patients bringing the total confirmed patients to 59, since the first case was detected 11 days ago, with medical teams now working round the clock to treat those confirmed as well as the 212 who were under observation at the 11 designated hospitals.

So far, those who have tested positive are admitted at the Infectious Disease Hospital but the government said it has begun equipping the Welikanda Base Hospital to treat the rising number of confirmed patients as it was in closer proximity to the Kandakadu quarantine centre where all those who had returned from Italy are being isolated.

A medical team from other hospitals will be gathered and appointed to the Welikada Base Hospital once it is ready to treat the virus-infected patients while patients who are presently admitted there for other ailments will be transferred to the Polonnaruwa Hospital.The Mulleriyawa Base Hospital is also being prepared to treat further patients.
