His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith has raised concerns over the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) releasing Riyaj Bathiudeen, the brother of MP Rishad Bathiudeen, who was detained over the alleged links to the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

Over the last few days, it was observed that the suspects, whose actions were investigated over the allegations pertaining to the Easter Sunday bombings, were released from custody the CID, he remarked.

In a special media briefing held this morning (03) at the Archbishop’s House in Colombo, the Cardinal said it is doubtful whether a political deal” is behind the move.

Surprised and saddened by the CID’s conduct, he urged the authorities to properly carry out the investigations in this regard.

The Cardinal also referred to a statement made by Police Spokesperson SSP Jaliya Senaratne, in which he said that investigations into the carnage have revealed that the parliamentarian’s brother has had maintained direct links with the bombers.

Speaking further, the Cardinal pointed out that the police spokesperson’s statement and the CID’s move are in complete contradiction.

SSP Senaratne in a recent media briefing announced that Riyaj Bathiudeen was released due to lack of evidence” to file a case against him.

The imbeciles do not understand that they will have no country to impose a constitution in the next 20 years and rule a country. Unmistakable signs that SL going the same way that Iberia (Portugal + Spain) went in the 7th century. Modus operandi: set one party against the other, create confusion and bid your time. They have the perfect tool – the parliamentary system no need to fight militarily in our case, it is a numbers game.

There is no transparency on the release of Riyaj Bathiudeen. We need to know the process which led to the discharge of this person. And for his brother Rishard to say that he has been discharged without complaint or completely exonerated of any wrong doing with respect to the Easter Sunday Massacre and discharged – Nidos cota Nidahas Kala – simply shows how powerful he is even with this administration!

The normal understanding is that such a pronouncement can only be made after a case has been heard before law courts and only when the judge or judges are absolutely convinced that the person is not guilty of a crime or related misdemeanours.

Now it is incumbent on those who perpetrated this miscarriage of justice to come up and explain to the Sri Lankan people whether Catholic or not, what exactly led Riyaj Bathiudeen’s release, what steps were taken before his honourable discharge and under whose authority he was discharged. Simply transferring the DIG in Charge is not any different to Sirisena putting all the balme for the massacre on the IGP – Pujitha Jayasundara and Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando! If not for Pohottuwa- the Shit just hit the fan!

The General Public is wondering what the End Game is?

In passing may we know what happened to Ravi Karunanayake’s money laundering case that involved money’s from the LTTE coffers. If I am right he had been freed of charges and only recieved a conditional discharge by a the Judge due to a techinicality involving the wrong citing of a date. We the public still await to see this case is taken to its logical conclusion and if guilty the accused duly punished!
