The national program titled ‘Jeeva Thuru Udanaya,’ organized by the State Ministry of Agriculture to make the general public aware of the nutritional and economic value of the Moringa (drumstick) tree, is expected to kick off tomorrow (April 17).

Manusath Derana, the CSR initiative of TV Derana, will join hands with this program to distribute a total of 1 million Moringa plants.

Speaking to Ada Derana ‘BIG FOCUS’ earlier today, State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa’s Private Secretary Sanjeewa Wijekoon said the initiative will be implemented at 2,5000 temples across all districts.

Chairman of Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya meanwhile pointed out that the drumstick plant was used to reinstate the undernourished regions in the world.

Murunga plant is one of the greatest plants on this earth.Me and my burgher friends have cow boy and Indian fights with bows and arrows where we shoot one another with bows and arrows that we shoot below the hips where the arrows are blunt, yet we get injured and we had many murunga trees we grew in the Kandy’s hills. We applied the skin and the chewed leaf of Murunga on our wounds that prevented us from infections.(I had a dog bite and we applied the bark also we were mimicking story of the Film Helen of Troy where Achilles’,was shot with an arrow and playing that story I was shot on my heels with an arrow and these marks are still on my body. Also I was allergic to prawns and we cooked the prawns with murunga leaves that helped a lot.We were so daring we go to the high court with bows and arrows, first the sudda judge was furious, later he could not be without us,we were really naughty rascals. This daring culture made me excel in UK where there were many obstacles and challenges.
