It is sad that the father of the writer had passed away due to the Covid-19 virus infection. The medicine he is talking about seems to be a very expensive medication and it would be very costly to provided nation wide. The cost will run in to Billions. Not everybody in the country is has the same influence and ability to work through known net works, such as the writer.

It is obvious in this case Sajith Premadasa has put every effort to boost up his rapidly deflating popularity. What is more repugnant is his dishonest effort to catch on every little straw to make himself relevant. He looks more like a person drowning and finding it difficult to stay afloat. This is why he is trying to hang onto every little straw available to catch the to stay afloat in politics. He will soon he a ‘has been’ in politics if he goes in this fashion!

As for the figures shown above, it is easy to manipulate statistics to show different scenarios but not the big picture. Most countries have gone through phases when Covid-19 pandemic was at its highest. Just picking up numbers during a particular period does not do justice to the big picture. Sri Lanka is going through the peak infections and related deaths at the moment. The writer is silent on the fact that Sajith and his Kuhaka Jana Balawegaya is partly responsible for the current wave of infections.

UK Cases reported during the 7 days beginning Jan 13, 2021 were 4416 per million population and death in the same 7days 122per million population

SO FAR SRI LANKS IS HAS 17345 CASES PER MILLION POPULATION – 125 FROM WORST DOWN FROM A TOTAL OF 220 COUNTRIES. SIMILARLY THE DEATH TOLL IS 316 DEATHS PER MILLION POPULATION AND IS AT THE POSITION OF 115 FROM THE WORST DOWN. THIS IS THE BIG PICTURE! THIS IS NOT GOOD AND COUNTRY MUST STRIVE FOR THE BEST. THIS IS THE NATURE OF THE BEAST!

USING ONE’S FATHER’S DEATH IN THIS FASION TO DEGRADE THE VALIANT EFFORTS BY THE GOVERNMENT AT THIS POINT IN TIME IS NOT ENTIRELY PRAISEWORTHY. THE CURRENT SITUATION IS A MULTIDIMENSIONAL PROBLEM THAT REQUIRES COOL HEADS AND SUPPORT FROM ALL AND SUNDRY!

AS FOR THE VOTES FROM WATTALA – THEY ARE ALWAYS FOR THE UNPATRIOTIC PARTY THE UNP AND NOW FOR THE KUHAKA JANA BALAWEGAYA!

At last, Gotabaya has realized the danger Sri Lankans are facing today. Delta variant is very aggressive. There is no point in considering historical facts. We have to consider what is happening today.

In UK daily infection rate is 36,572 and the daily death rate is 113, ie infection is 573per million population, and 1.7 death per million population, while in Sri Lanka daily infection rate is 3806 and the daily death rate is 186, ie infection is 177per million population, 8.6 death per million population. See the contrast.

In Sri Lanka, the high death rate is due to poor management of Covid patients in government hospitals. Sri Lanka health service does not have an island-wide Corona management protocol. When it comes to the management it is up to the individual doctor’s responsibility of selection of medicine and life-supporting facilities.

In the UK and in all developed countries, every hospital in the country follows a National Health protocol when treating a Covid patient. For example, if the patient’s oxygen saturation in the blood goes below 94% they should immediately transfer the patient to a ward where they can give oxygen. But in Sri Lanka, We can see patients dying in the corridors due to lack of oxygen.

Despite a daily infection rate of 36,572, In the UK there are no covid restrictions anymore because of the high standard of patient care.
