Mr.Kishan Ameresekera's Letter to the TimesLetter to the Editor
A foreign journalist's near suicidal attempt to breach Security, Protocol and the Law, in the process of obtaining a News Item and getting injured in so doing!, for which she has only herself to blame while being ably assisted bt the LTTE. This individual in his letter to the Editor of the Times has not only chosen to denigrate the Sri Lankan Armed Forces but has slighted the Government of Sri Lanka as well as the Health System and Specialized Staff concerned enough to want to treat the injured reporter and does he for a moment beleive that by virtue of his being a US Resident he has the right to make almost sacrileginous comments against a Government engaged in a campaign against Global Terrorism while synonymously dragging down his Native Land?.Not a chance! and there seems to be a need for him to be castigated officially regardless of his status in the USA hopefully not a diplomatic one!(said in lighter vein!) Ms. Colvin had no business to be where she was after having been decoyed into believing she was pursuing a just cause for the LTTE and the course of events which follwed were of her own seeking at her own risk and then we have this rather incongruous analysis by a 'self imposed pundit' with his ludicurous comments, and his 'know all' attitude which is an affront to most Lankans living overseas who have any insight into the stringent realities of Justice Systems in certain countries together with the Health Care Systems and the created norms of their efficiencies offset against those of Sri Lanka which could be termed currently efficient but perhaps moderate and surrounded by contingencies governed by an ongoing war to name one, but by comparison certainly not bad enough to be tarnished to the extent it has been by this individual who seems to have over excercised the Freedom of Speech from a safe distance!!. "Breathes There a Man Who Never To Himself Has Said! This Is My Land! My Own Native Land!" The Scribe, for Sri Lankans Overseas To the Editor, LankaWeb |
