The megalomaniac terrorist leader has advanced his annual threatening statement aiming to convey his message to the voters in the general election. It is obvious that this statement has been released early to canvas for his buddy Ranil's wicked band in the elections as insinuated by the terrorist organ Tamil Guardian. It is further confirmed by the swift appreciation and the compliment made by the UNP spokesman Mr. Karunasena Kodituwakku. The UNP statement issued within a few hours indicate that UNP was well aware of the contents of the speech before hand, the UNP statement was prearranged and authenticate the collaboration between UNP and the terrorists. Although the treacherous UNP and its servile electronic and print organs are trying hard to whitewash the statement the terrorist leader has not made even an atom of compromise in the statement. In his statement last year (after the election) he said that his terrorist outfit is prepared to have peace talks with the government without any precondition.

Subsequently when the government declared its intention to have peace talks he discarded his sheep's clothes, exhibited the real position by resorting to his two-nation theory - the Sinhala nation and Tamil nation where the Tamil nation is being oppressed, invaded and occupied by the Sinhala Nation. He said the main reason for the unfortunate situation is the refusal of the Sinhala nation to recognise the fundamentals of the Tamil conflict as well as the political aspirations of the Tamils.

If a permanent political solution is to be achieved by peaceful means, the Sinhala nation has to accept certain basic truths about the Tamil people and understand their basic aspirations. The Tamils of Eelam have a unique ethnic identity. They are a community of people constituted as a national formation experiencing a national consciousness of their own. They have their own lands; a historically constituted territory which is their homeland. Our people desire only one thing. They want to live happily in peace in their own lands without being dominated or harassed by others. It is on the basis of this understanding a just and permanent solution could be built up.

He further said that"Jaffna does not belong to the Sinhala nation. Jaffna belongs to the people of Jaffna. Sovereignty is not a divine right of a State. Sovereignty derives from the people; it is an inalienable right of a people. It is the people of Jaffna who has sovereign right over the Jaffna peninsula.

Finally the unconditional talks offer required a conducive climate to have such talks. Such a climate required a stop to the ongoing war, de-proscription of the ban and free flow of all items to the Wanni. Then Then only it was possible to have the unconditional talks. In the current statement praised and applauded by the treacherous UNP, he states (from the Full text published in the Tamil Guardian of 28.11.2001) that the Tamil people want to maintain their national identity and to live in their own lands, in their historically given homeland with peace and dignity. They want to determine their own political and economic life; they want to be on their own. These are the basic political aspirations of the Tamil people.

He further states that we are a national liberation organisation. We are fighting for the emancipation of our people against racist tyranny, against military occupation, against state terror. Our struggle has a concrete, legitimate political objective. Our struggle is based on the right to self-determination.

He blames President Chandrika and the PA government saying the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam is a people's movement integrated with the people into a unified single force fighting collectively for the liberation of our homeland. In a devious strategy to alienate and marginalise our liberation organisation from our people and to destroy us, the government of Chandrika Kumaratunga proscribed us as a 'terrorist' organisation. Following this decision, Chandrika's government, particularly its Foreign Minister Mr Kadirgamar, launched a sustained propaganda campaign in the international arena portraying the LTTE and the Tamil freedom struggle as a diabolical phenomenon of terrorism. As a consequence the United States, Britain and most recently Canada, have included our liberation movement in their lists of terrorist organisations.

Referring to the elections, which is the main purpose of releasing this message early, the message points out that the LTTE has become the central theme in the current election campaign in Tamil Eelam and in the Sinhala south. (Again the two nation theory).

Having assumed itself as the most crucial and cardinal issue in Sri Lankan politics, the Tamil national conflict has effectively polarised the political forces towards two contradictory positions. Therefore, we call upon the Sinhala people to identify and renounce the racist forces committed to militarism and war and to offer justice to the Tamils in order to put an end to this bloody war and to bring about permanent peace.

The above claims and threats clearly expose that there is an agreement by the UNP to hand-over the North East in a platter to the terrorists, and lift the ban on this ruthless terrorist organisation. In this situation the people of the Sri Lanka has to make their firm decision to prevent the obvious segregation of this nation.

Otherwise the great sacrifices made by thousands of our valiant soldiers widowing many innocent girls in their prime youth, orphaning many children, and making many parents childless, in addition to several hundreds becoming permanently incapacitated and the sacrifices made by the patriotic poor people will have no value, because of a treacherous power hungry political group planning to stage the biggest betrayal in this nation.
