Dear Kishan N. Amarasekera,

I find it so refreshing to see a fellow Sri Lankan calling a spade, a spade, your sarcasm knows no bounds, kudos to you.

After having lived a long period in the United States myself, ethnocentrism of this nature mixed with a healthy dose of ignorance is more the rule than the exception in regards to the Caucasian American, especially when it comes to the darker shades of skin.

How dare this woman violate every law in our land, break immigration regulations, work in cahoots with one of the most ruthless terrorist organizations (as stipulated by both her country of origin and the country of her employer), cross defense lines without authorization, attempt to sneak back in with armed escorts and then find fault with the treatment stemmed out to her.

So-called non-governmental organizations who are active in the North have been assisting and sympathizing with the tigers for years, we know this and so do the soldiers, can they be blamed for being suspicious, I say absolutely not.

I believe that if I was that soldier on the front line faced with a similar situation, her journalistic career would have reached an abrupt end.

Here is a reality check for you Ms.Colvin, you are no hero, you are just another spoilt American, always running to the aid of the nearest US embassy when the heat is turned on. Stay at home, eat TV dinners and watch soap operas to your hearts content, stop bringing disrepute to journalists the world over.

The real hero is the young soldier who stands the line daily and defends all peace loving Sri Lankan from the tyranny of the LTTE and the pipe dream known as Eelam.
