Re Item on Murali

I read with interest your item on Muralitharan and the plea by Adam Gilchrist that he should tour Australia.

I think the cricketing world knows that Australians play a mean game. Sledging is part of their armoury.

I don't think Murali should be exposed to such mean tactics. He's a great bowler and his bowling feats are never recognised by Australia.

The Australian players, the partisan crowds and a biased media will do their utmost to destroy his image.

If you have any influence with the Sri Lankan media and the cricket board, I urge you please to stop him from being a lamb led to slaughter.

Australia will win the series and win convincingly because they are a strong team and they play mean.

The upcoming tour is not that important to allow an icon like Murali be humiliated by rednecks. What is important is to win the World Cup and win it convincingly.

Then and only then could you stop such unfair comments being made. I am a Sri Lankan but an Australian citizen.

I love Australia, my adopted home, but my love for Australian cricket ended after Bradman departed from the game. He was the last of the greats who respected cricket as a gentleman's game.
