Dear Mr Y. Gamperaliya,
you have totally missed the valuable message in the Izeth's article,
though what you say is
absolutely true and irrelevant in the context of that article in The
Island.
The core message is a universal principle (or model of thinking) which
can be applied to the prevailing conditions in Sri Lanka. Compressed
into few words it is as follows: The outcome is determined by the situation
rather than the intentions. This sounds trivial. Ok, sometimes trivial
things must be structured and expresses properly.
The principle can explain why the LTTE is apparently not insisting on
separate Eelam. It is not necessary because the situation will lead
to that. They should only manipulate the situation to achieve their
goal.
The principle also allows someone to articulate the adverse effects
of granting the LTTE radio equipment. See the last paragraph of Izeth's
article.
To explain what I mean with an analogy: a man is hit by an arrow, and
now he is in critical condition. Izeth describes the effect of the arrow
and the mechanism through which the man is going to die. What you are
trying to do is convincing others that the arrow is of certain colour.
I hope only that resourceful doctors will grasp the mechanism and make
precautions to keep the victim at least alive.
The knowledge as to whether it is a national liberation moment or not
will not help because the situation is critical. It would have helped
many years ago. But not now.
