The Buddhist monks including the late Rev Madihe Pannasiha Maha Nayaka thero have been requesting successive governments in the past to bring in legislation to outlaw unethical conversions and protect the Buddha sasanaya as proclaimed by the constitution of SL. But all these pleadings/requests fell on deaf ears and both Ranil& Chandrika treated these concerned monks with utter contempt. Even the traitors who ruled before them acted in a similar manner only caring to listen to the International community and the NGO Mafia both great friends of the LTTE.

So the monks attempted a hunger strike sincerely believing that it would do the trick but to no avail as Chandrika's personal political agenda is more important than saving the Budhu Sasuna. So here we go through yet another circus of elections again with an unbearable cost burden to the country but these are trivial concerns compared to CBK's political goals which are paramount. Then the Buddhist monks decided to enter parliament as a last resort hoping this time with a few seats in hand to bargain with they would be able to push this legislation through as the king makers. So, in a supposedly 70% Buddhist country the majority should be uniting behind these decent human beings like a breath of fresh air after sending countless crooks, murderers and thugs to parliament during the last two to three decades. But alas! we are talking about Sri Lanka here and not the other 190 odd sensible countries in the world community.

Sri Lanka is a predominantly Buddhist country with hardly any visible practising Buddhists. It is a predominantly Sinhala country with hardly any visible Sinhala people. The BJP which is also a nationalist party like SU had the fortune to be in India and not in SL. The Indians, to the much annoyance of the Western leaders have shown the world that they have the foresight and political maturity/astuteness to vote for a nationalist party despite the Western media denouncing the BJP as racist, chauvinist and extremist. Since BJP came to power India has never looked back and has gone from strength to strength.

There are numerous examples of the Buddha preaching politics (you may call it Buddhist politics). He said something to the effect that it is no good preaching Dhamma to the starving. He asked the monks to feed a hungry man before preaching "bana". In other words look after their basic needs first. For the JVP fans amongst us, Lord Buddha preached Buddhist socialism long before Carl Marx came on the scene. We don't need yet another Westerner to tell us how to run our country when we have enough examples in the Buddha Dhamma and Buddha did not take off his robes when he wanted to preach politics and put them back on when he went to preach Abhi Dhamma to the well heeled middle class.

Today, every Tom, Dick and Harry along with the Norwegians, the Americans, the International community, terrorists , crooks, murderers, thugs, Foreign NGOs, the catholic and evangelical Churches, Muslims, Tamils can have a say on how to run our country but not the Sinhalas and the Buddhist monks. Terrorists can enter parliament but not the Buddhist monks. While our politicians are actively busy christianising the country the Buddhist monks are expected to turn a blind eye and just carry on giving guidance to a load of traitors who treat them with utter contempt. Thanks to this kind of utterly stupid behaviour in the past, so many Buddhist countries have fallen into the hands of Communists, Muslims and Christians. Only three Theravada Buddhist countries are left in the line up of dominoes today and how long must the Buddhist monks go on giving guidance to treacherous politicians before these fall off?

The biggest joke is when Upul arunajith says that we must let the politicians RUN and RULE the country. I prefer if they took the former advice and RUN and leave the ruling of the country to the Buddhist monks according to the Buddha Dhamma. I am 100 per cent sure that the monks would do a far better job than the politicians who have been too busy filling up their pockets and appeasing their two masters Prabhakaran & International community, to notice the country steadily declining to the status of a third rate third world banana Republic which has become a haven for terrorists, drug dealers, gun runners, human traffickers, sex industry and paedophiles.

Finally, the "New JVP" says that they are a more refined, holier than thou political party but they never seem to miss an opportunity to worship their "old guard" in rallies, meetings etc. I have never seen them worshipping any religious leader like they worship late Rohana Wijeweera et al. Their "Born Again Buddhist" stance after the death of Rev Soma thero might at last make them abandon brother Rohana as they abandoned the red Marxist flags in preference to white flags. But will they ever be able to abandon their expertise in thuggery and murder despite their holier than thou rhetoric?
