Destruction of Sinhalese Buddhist Civilization The Common Objective of The LTTE And Foreign Non Governmental Organization in Sri Lanka-A Sinhalese Perspective
President Mrs Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga
Madame President,
The apprehension existing among the Sinhalese Buddhists cannot be ignored. There is cause for such apprehension. The enclosed article is written to bring to the attention of your good self ,the politician and prelates in Sri Lanka the perceptions of Sinhalese Buddhists living abroad at present.
Sri Lanka or Sinhale the traditional home of the Sinhalese cannot be divided to please recent settlers, more importantly the Tamil terrorists who should be charged and convicted for the crime of high treason.. The world is aware of the guilt of these criminals of many other atrocities.
The demerger of North and East is essential to proceed with the serious and necessary task of regaining the trust of this Nation. The land of the Sinhalese has to be restored and personal security ensured. We take this opportunity to express our appreciation for the efforts taken to protect our country and the Nation
With good wishes for a happy New Year.
Yours sincerely Mr K Basnayaka

Dr IMRC Iriyagolle Destruction of Sinhalese Buddhist Civilization The Common Objective of The LTTE And Foreign Non Governmental Organization in Sri Lanka-A Sinhalese Perspective
Article nine of the Constitution of Sri Lanka states that Buddhism should be given the foremost place in the spiritual sphere and the Government of Sri Lanka must foster and protect Buddhism as in the past two thousand and five hundred years. In practice however the Government has made a mockery of the constitution giving equal status to all existing faiths and creating ministries for the affaires of each religion. In a pitiful attempt to curry favour with the Christian world Sri Lankan politicians have grossly mismanaged public money, giving a higher percentage to minority faiths in relation to percentage of population size. The Government has shown that the Sinhalese Buddhists were unimportant.
According to figures from the CIA and US state department the Sri Lankan population, in relation to religion, the break down is as follows; 70% Buddhist, 15% Hindu, 8% Christian, and 7% Muslim. Each faith has its' own ministry of affairs. How can the Sri Lankan government justify expenditure on these ministries when 25% of the population is below the poverty line.
Sri Lankan leaders are more concerned with ensuring their political survival through good public relations performance than they are about addressing the almost insoluble problems of their country.
Government treatment of the LTTE terrorists is similar to their treatment of foreign NGOs'; delicate, sensitive, bowing, and scraping and acceding to their every demand. The vast apparatus to destabilize and wipe out Sinhalese Buddhists needs to be dismantled to protect and prevent attacks on the Sinhalese. The slightest sign of any harm to the faiths of the minorities the Government galvanize itself to take measures to protect them in contrast to their approach to the plight of the Sinhalese Buddhists 70% of the population. These actions are similar to the actions of the Christian Imperial powers.
Under the brutal Christian Powers (1505-1948) the Buddhists endured ferocious onslaughts of atrocity. The foreign NGOs' have the same objective as the terrorists. Though their methods may vary and they may, at times, seem benevolent their aims are the same as those of their Christian crusader ancestors. The Dark Age dawned in 1977 and now it is time to work towards a dawning of a new friendly glorious and victorious era for the Sinhalese Buddhists. There are many ways to destroy a Nation, a civilization. Insidiously or through open conflict, like terrorism. A glance at the history of the so called 'Christians' shows that they have spilt a sea of non-Christian blood in the past and are continuing to do so now. . 'Christian crusades' (C11th-C14th) resulted in the genocide of Muslims and the destruction of great cities and civilizations. This was the message of Christ being interpreted by the warring blood thirsty Europeans. The destruction of the great cities in Iraq and Afghanistan by the American and British forces can easily be related to the destruction caused by the crusades of centuries past.
The reconstruction of these once great countries by the Christians will enrich the European multinational companies promoting further corporate greed. From a Buddhist perspective these acts of ferocious aggression may be attributed to an unbridled ambitions, greed and an obsession to control other nations. The NGOs appear to have embarked on crusades of another style in another Era.
There is ample evidence in the countries of origin of the NGOs that their services are needed more in these developed countries than in the Buddhist countries as such their Visas should be cancelled and these organizations should be encouraged to leave the shores of Sri Lanka to begin work in the ghettos of America and poverty stricken arrears of Britain. Crimes against women children and the elderly are rising continually in these nations. Drugs of addiction, alcohol and tobacco have created a vicious cycle of suffering in the families involved. The Christian NGOs travel round the world destabilizing the poor countries, totally ignoring the poverty and suffering on their own doorstep. Understandably NGOs are perceived as predators by some.
In Great Britain studies carried out in 1999/2000 show a rise in number of poor households fourteen millions, that is a quarter of the population of Great Britain compared to 1970. The Household below average income study results showed a three fold increase in the number of poor households after running costs. Similarly in the United States of America, the world's largest economy and Super power, the urban ghettos are on the increase. Black Wealth/White Wealth A New Perspective on Racial inequalities (Oliver and Shapiro) describes the continuing barriers encountered by the African Americans resulting in the formation of more and more urban ghettoes. It is thus self evident the NGOs from these countries going to Asia and Africa should channel their energies and social consciousness towards addressing unmet needs in their own countries.
The Government of Sri Lanka should focus on the policies that facilitated the NGO invasions. Policies that enrich multinational companies, NGOs and Tamil terrorist should be changed. The LTTE and the foreign NGOs are more powerful than the Government of Sri Lanka and appear to collude with the enemies of the State. Money laundering operations, using Sri Lanka as a base, are commonly practiced by terrorists. What steps have been taken to explore how these terrorists come to be so well resourced? Illicit drugs, weapons and human trafficking are problems that are not tackled by the government. Large money transactions should be monitored and suspect organisations placed under surveillance. The country surely should be on a war footing and the convicted murderer, Prabhakaran and his army of traitors should be captured and justice rendered It is the duty of every Buddhist to rise up in order to protect and preserve Buddhism in Sri Lanka, These are mere words at present, but can easily be translated into action if required. Theravada Buddhism the Doctrine of Gauthama Buddha in its pristine purity will survive the onslaught of the 'Christians.'and the traitors It is pitiful that the Minister of Buddhist Affairs is acting or, rather not acting as he should in failing to assess the activities carried out with impunity against Buddhism. The mood and aspirations of the Buddhists is evident today. Strength, righteousness and wisdom are qualities absent in the modern day political arena. The Minister Mr Loku Bandara in a dysfunctional state does appear to be neither Loku nor a Bandara a great pity. Sri lanka will flourish under great Buddhists, all communities will unite wiping out terrorism and treachery. |
