Dear Sirs,
In view of the recent tragedy - grenade explosion at a Concert in Colombo
- planned unknowingly by organizers to coincide with the death anniversary
of Rev Soma,
May I suggest that the Heads of Buddhist Clergy in Sri Lanka publish
a "Buddhist Calendar"
giving dates to be avoided in holding Concerts, Cricket Matches, Fairs,
Non-Buddhist Festivals, Exhibitions, Dances, Musical Performances, Political
Rallies, Trade Union Meetings, International Conferences, Motor Rallies,
Weddings and Functions in Hotels at which liquor may be served, Diplomatic
Functions at which Liquor may be served, Etc., Etc.
This will prevent tragedies in the future.
