Let's put an end to the time of forgery

This election decides the fate of our country, our people and our younger generation.
Do we allow Ranil Praba treacherous alliance to engulf our country? Or else do we safeguard our motherland and channel the country on a path to development? We have to make the right choice of the two.

Ranil Wickramasinghe's government only cheated the people throughout their two-year regime. Ranil Wickramasinghe's government, in particular, badly cheated the very people who voted for the UNP. What he does today is trying to cheat people with the money and media of the racketeers.
The Divaina" of 22nd September 2003 reports Ranil Wickramasinghe saying on 19th September 2003 at the inaugural ceremony of the Kukulegama Project " "We will initiate a gigantic development project throughout the country with a large volume of foreign aid we received by virtue of the cease fire. Then most of the problems will be solved."

"The Dinamina" of 27th November 2001 reports Ranil Wickramasinghe saying at an election rally in Colombo in 2001 "You need not go after anyone. Once you school you will be referred to some job. Then the era youngsters had to hang around politicians' offices will be over."

… School leavers can join the "Youth Forces" and undergo training in any field of one's choice for 18 months. During that period you will be given an allowance of Rs.2000.00. After the training they will be referred to some job and those aspiring to start self employment will be given financial assistance. This will enable them to start their own enterprises like small shops and firms." "The Daily News" of 23rd November 2001 reports Ranil Wickramasinghe saying at Haguranketha "We will arrange for every infant below three years to receive a glass of milk free. Widows and helpless women will find relief through Samurdi Program and Kantha Diri Piyasa…"

The Divaina" of 8th October 2001 reports Ranil Wickramasinghe saying on 06th October 2001 at a meeting at Hikkaduwa "I want to develop the economy of this country and thereby everyone to have money. When they have money they will be able to buy a good sari, a shirt, a bracelet etc. What is the situation today? There's no money, no bracelets, no saris and nothing. Everything has been pawned. You will see a change when we come to power."These are some of the things Ranil said then. He came to power on lying and continued to reign lying from then onwards.

During Ranil's two-year regime no majour development project was launched.
Ranil who boasted about finding jobs for the youth hasn't given jobs to any youngster. Instead employees have been sacked both in the state and private sector as well. Ranil who promised to give Rs.2000.00 to school leavers hasn't given even a cent to the unemployed youth.

Ranil who promised to give a glass of milk free to every infant below three years has heaped economic burden to such an extent that parents find it impossible to feed even water let alone milk.

Ranil's government despite boasting about money in ever everyone's pocket, everyone wearing good saris, shirts, trousers and bracelets did in the end make life impossible with the meager income earned by virtue of the huge economic burden and cut down the subsidies granted to the poor.
Ranil who talked about enhancing the living conditions of the farmers in the end cut down subsidies conceded to the farmers and made farmers fed up of their profession.

What man on earth with a grain of sanity can trust Ranil who gained power upon lying and then betrayed the motherland to the Tiger terrorists, heaped economic burden on the people and sold out the assets of the country? Can we look on while this treacherous gang go on looting the country and drag the country to misery? No! Not at all!

That led to the emergence of the United People's Freedom Alliance. We forged the United People's Freedom Alliance in order that the government on this land is not lying to the people, does not tolerate fraudulence and divide the country.

The JVP is an honest and a bold party that will not plunder the national assets of the country correct the mistakes at the first sight, a party that has set many examples to the political culture of this country. In this election the JVP is contesting on the symbol "betel leaf" under the UPFA as all the patriots must unite to save the country. Or else with the electorate in the South divided we will again have a government that will dance to the tune of racist groups.

From the 2nd of April the JVP will become partners of governance for the second time. Four key ministries, the ministry of agriculture, land and irrigation, the ministry of fisheries and aquatic resources, the ministry of cultural affairs and national heritage and the ministry of rural industries, will be assigned to the JVP. We will formulate a UPFA government and take charge of responsibilities in that government to put an end to the rule of forgery and fraudulence, to do something right for the country and to show the country how theft and wastage can be done away with and to assure that peace can be accomplished without submission to separatism. In the next government we will practically prove this assurance before your own eyes.

We should not let ourselves be deceived by trickery. We now have to choose what is right. We must not be fooled by the "cunning saviors" who help Ranil and Prabakaran to come to power by virtue of a split of votes in the south. Do not let the electorate in the South be divided at any cost. Let's add all the votes on behalf of the country in favour of the "betel leaf". We'll muster the strength in the South and build up a very strong government. Let's form a clean government that can provide correct solutions to the problems of all of us battered in the hands of the enemies of the people.

Put an end to forgery and usher in an era of truth and come to the forefront to bring back a Sri Lanka, we all of us can live in peace and self sufficient in rice and grain. For the orientation of the country for the accomplishment of this sacred task cast your vote in favour of the "betel leaf" and mark your preferences for the JVP candidates who can shoulder this responsibility and contribute to this historic victory.
