This is in response to the article of Mr. Lalendra published on 26th Feb. 2004 Maha Sanga and Elections, By Lalendra

I do not reject your allegations against me as I have the same view and I know the ground truth just as you are although I am away from home.

Yet, all what I wanted to emphasize was that Mahasangha competing under SU/HJU is going to dilute the expected majority to UFPA alliance which will then help UNF/TNA to form the next govt. In that scenario would you agree that all of are lost! The game is over, if the UNF/TNA setup the next govt. in hundred time speed they will adopt all necessary actions to set up Eelaam and suppress all Democratic and Progressive forces.

What I am simply explaining is that this is a time all progressive forces and democratic people should unite and sweep out UNF/TNA for good. Other differences could be fought and solved after setting up Alliance govt. and if such an event if any thing goes in contradiction to the quoted policies, then just as others I will also be in forefront of the fight against all actions.

Mahasangha could have been more productive towards this national cause if they opted to support UFPA even from outside towards a common cause rather than exposing it a racial issue where other discontented Minority votes will be driven away from UFPA to SJ/HJU and even to UNP/TNA. This will cause death to all the dreams that Ordinary people of our country sacrificed over months for the SLFP/` JVP alliance to be formed.

The fact that you are highlighting is well, known to me, MA is not the noble high end of the Buddhism but yet they have a powerful voice to the public and the rulers. This is why whenever their blessings are needed or the rulers need to deceive the public, the MA chieftains are offered Benz cars etc. But the public perspective is different I know, and over the years with many betrayals the lower ranks of the Sangha sasana is dissatisfied and against the MA hegemony.

Only, establishing a different administration, people friendly, that does not serve to Capitalists, Their henchmens, Puppets of Western Imperialism etc. it self will pave the way to address all these issues.

But for now it is for the benefit of the entire country, Sinhalese Natioanlity, Buddhism the conflicting competions of Mahasangha under a different banner should be withdrawn. If not after 02nd. April, we will be two countrirs, two nationalities that will futher devide and devide, civil wars amongst it's people and could become another ITHIOPIA !
