Venue of the Talks is an Issue! Do Not be Misled by Eric Solheim!NissankaEric Solheim, the well known LTTE staunch supporter and apologist, has said the venue of the talks is not an issue. That is far from the truth. Even if a single round of talks were held in the EU (including in Oslo, Norway as LTTE has demanded), it would essentially nullify and make a mockery of the EU's recently imposed travel ban on the LTTE. This travel ban, imposed as a punitive measure over LTTE's assassination of Lakshman Kadirgarmar, has hurt the LTTE substantively both materially and morally. It is a well known fact that the frequent jaunts to the EU capitals that LTTE honchos (such as Thamichelvam) undertook was for a dual purpose. One was to spew venom on the GOSL and the Sinhela community and thereby raise "Tamil nationalism" to a frenzy in the Tamil diaspora and thereby assure continued monetary support for the LTTE's war chest. Second, these jaunts were used to canvass various EU government officials' support for breaking up Sri Lanka along racial lines and establishing the LTTE's racist-fascist state, Tamileelam. Incidentally, these jaunts started soon after Ranil Wickremasinghe (undisputedly the most dim-witted brain SL contemporary politics have witnessed in a long time) assumed power and merrily went along with all the "confidence building measures" that Norwegians recommended to him. Ranil could not discern the proper art of negotiating, nor could he see that these measures were nothing short of insidious, sneaky ways to destroy SL's national security interests. SLAF choppers were provide to the LTTE killers just for the asking and whole platoons of SLA Special Forces were assigned to safeguard the vermin whenever they came to Colombo to travel abroad! As for Eric Solheim, this statement is typical of this man's cunning resolve to assure that LTTE gets the hottest deal in town at the GOSL's expense. It is a shame that GOSL still goes along with this "white tiger" as an advisor to "peace talks." His unabashed partiality towards one party to the conflict, namely the LTTE, has made him unfit to perform in any role relevant to the conflict. On more than one occasion Lakshman Kadirgarmar had requested the Royal Norwegian Government (RNG) to remove him. Just to appease such protests, the RNG put him in "cold storage" for awhile, but somehow he was successful in slithering back into the limelight to openly support the LTTE once again . If one were to examine his track record of words and deeds over the past few years it becomes evident why we would not want this man to be involved, in any shape or form, in this issue. Frankly, the blame lies with the GOSL where the demand to have him removed was not sustained and pursued vigorously. Having enough evidence of his unabashed LTTE partiality, the GOSL had a winning hand to convince the RNG, the US, EU, Japan and India (the countries claiming to have direct interest in this conflict resolution) of why he should be a persona non-grata, but miserably failed to do so. Anyway, clearly the LTTE ploy here is to not commence "peace talks" to find a permanent solution (which the LTTE will never be sincere of - by their own admittance now), but to use the pretense of coming for "peace talks" to circumvent the EU's travel ban. GOSL needs to be mindful of this LTTE's cunning strategy, which Eric Solheim is executing with master-skill. It was plainly evident that LTTE was able to take Ranil for a joy-ride with the last round of "peace talks." The globe trotting on the pretext of "peace talks" brought LTTE much needed international recognition and gave a boost to raising huge sums money from the Tamil diaspora and at no point did any signs materialize that the LTTE was aiming for a permanent, viable, solution within the sovereign nation of Sri Lanka. Therefore, at the urging of Lakshman Kadirgarmar, the CBK GOSL made a resolution that all future "peace talks" will only be held within Sri Lanka. Clearly, I see the current MR GOSL has now made BIG BOO-BOO by so callously reneging on that resolution and agreeing to hold talks outside of Sri Lanka. With regards to this "burning national issue," the repetitive mistakes that the GOSL makes are simply stupefying! Shame! |
