The SLMM strongly condemns the attack on the LTTE checkpoint but is not too fussed about LTTE slaughtering an ex-soldierRamanie de ZoysaSoon to be (but not soon enough) departing Head of SLMM Hagrup Haukland is in an agitated mood because an unidentified gunman attacked the Vvunathieevu LTTE checkpoint and killed two terrorists but he has not said boo about the LTTE killing an ex-army soldier, Mohammad Nawaz just days after the LTTE agreed to uphold their side of the bargain with regards to the so-called CFA in Geneva. Even though the Armed Forces of the Sovereign State of Sri Lanka assured their non-involvement in the attack, Haukland, has slandered the Sri Lankan Government by intimating that the Sri Lankan military was involved. These accusations are being made by the Nordic peace jockeys against a sovereign government without an iota of truth or a shred of evidence to support such libel. Sri Lankas President Mr Rajapakse needs to be gravely concerned about such obnoxious slander made against the State Armed Forces by aliens. So far Mr Haukland has had zip to say about the cold blooded murder of the young ex-soldier, Mr Nawaz, who had been shot at point blank range, assassination style, near the Jumma mosque in Valachchenai. Haukland or any of his team did not see this criminal act as a blow to the Ceasefire Agreement, a threat to the next round of talks or an act that would undermine both parties commitment to the Joint Statement from the Geneva talks as he did at the attack on the LTTE checkpoint. Sri Lanka continues its horrendous saga of being the mouse in a game where two cats are playing with it before either or both of them will maim, humiliate, kill and devour it. It has been abundantly clear since 2002 that Norwegians and the rest of Europe will never make impartial officials in the terrorist war facing Sri Lanka. However, government after government has been letting the Europeans manipulate the power play in favour of the terrorists with impunity. Prior to the Geneva talks, the LTTE promised to release the three policemen attached to the NCPA in exchange for the release of four LTTE terrorists. The four terrorists went free without any fuss but one of the three policemen is still languishing in terrorist captivity. The SLMM has taken absolutely no notice of this and has not made any effort to make LTTE keep their word. One would think that in any prisoner exchange, the two parties would make sure that the prisoners are released at the same time, with due monitoring of the exchange process and with sufficient tactics built into the release process which will allow the release to be aborted if the enemy tries to get too smart. Of course, in Sri Lanka we follow the free and easy process. The terrorist vermin were released to the community immediately with no strings attached leaving the LTTE to do the right thing. The LTTE reneged to no ones surprise. Norwegians looked the other way. Post Geneva talks the team of LTTE thugs were invited to Oslo to be entertained, to be met by high ranking government officials and for the LTTE to raise funds. Norway now insists that both parties to the talks were invited to Norway post- talks. Can the Sri Lankan government corroborate this story? Can the Sri Lankan delegation explain why the invitation to visit also was turned down by them? Shopping was no good? Mr President, when are we going to start working on the promised honourable peace?
