THE LTTE STOP BRUTALITY?

It is nearly 2 months since the Presidential Elections & appointment
of President Rajapakse as the 5th President of Sri Lanka. During this
period over 100 citizens of this country - whether they be military
staff, ordinary citizens, rival Tamil politicians, ordinary Tamil, Sinhala
and Muslim brothers and sisters or Tamil Hindus have been killed or
injured by the brutality of LTTE in the North and East. Having attacked
humanbeings in such brutal fashion, the LTTE & pro-LTTE politicians
try to point the finger at the Government and the armed forces on grounds
of “provocation” to justify their own brutality.
The Government of President Rajapakse has been more than tolerant towards
the atrocities of the terrorists upto now. Not one of these attacks
have resulted due to the initiative taken by government troops however
much the terrorists try to make it so! All provocations have come from
the terrorists in their quest to get President Rajapakse to accede to
their demand of holding peace talks in Oslo rather than any other Asian
country. After such brutal provocations, the Sri Lankan President has
every right to order the Armed Forces to retaliate to protect our sovereignty,
our people and the nation. However, maximum restraint has been exhibited
even to the point of receiving criticism from sane observers both locally
and internationally.
The Co-chairs and SLMM have continued to pressurize the Governments
of Chandrika Kumaratunga, Ranil Wickramasinghe and now President Rajapakse
that peace could be achieved first by the Ceasefire Agreement, then
by P-Toms for Tsunami Rehabilitation and now to conduct & continue
Peace Talks. So far all these have only ended up as “Lip-Service
Peace Talks” with no sincerity whatsoever exhibited by the terrorists
to observe any of the conditions laid down for peaceful negotiations!
The World Bank has threatened the Government of Sri Lanka that aid will
be withdrawn if we do not rush in to more talks with terrorists! May
we humbly ask whether the US, Britain, Norway or any other western power
would sit down for peace negotiations with a bunch of brutal terrorists
toting weaponry? Have they invited the Al Queda, The Jihad for peace
talks in their Western magnanimity of using “ democratic and humanitarian”
methods to solve problems of terrorism? Instead what these Western Humanitarians
have done- is to invade countries and declare ALL OUT WAR on entire
nations & their innocent citizens! How extremely democratic.
However, these hypocrites have the audacity to demand that our Government
sit down to peace talks with Tamil terrorists who live by the gun, rule
by the gun and will die by the gun! These terrorists use terminology
that will suite Western ears by claiming that they demand a Tamil homeland-
they already have it in Tamil Nadu in south India- why don’t they
all move over there and rest in peace? After all, they will not have
to fight for it- it is ready made and that is where their roots are.
It would be really interesting to see the yardstick which the Western
Powers will use someday, when gun-toting Tamil terrorists living in
countries like the US, Canada, Australia, Britain, Norway, Sweden, The
Netherlands, Germany and France one day decides to demand for a “Tamil
Homeland” when they have adequate human heads living in those countries-
to demand such a claim on foreign soil?
As Shakespeare said: “ ……….a rose by any other
name would smell just as sweet………….” similarly
“terrorism” by any other name will be just as brutal, no matter
which method they will use- land to air missiles, chemical weapons,
or RPG’s- it is still just pure cold-blooded brutality committed
by a deranged bunch of power hungry terrorists with no justification-
they only wish for power through the barrel of a gun! They know no democracy-
they know no human rights. Their “ONLY RIGHT IS TO KILL! It is
high time that the West learned to call “ a spade” a spade
& use equal yardsticks of judgement no matter where the problem
arises!
Terrorists have one special skill- that is to use terminology that
will gain them support in the West to attack legitimate and democratically
elected Governments in the developing countries- NOT IN THE WEST- never!
Why the double-standards dear Co-chairs and SLMM? Do you turn a blind
eye to terrorist brutality purely because it is on Sri Lankan soil?
Purely because this brutality helps you to sell your weaponry?
