Claymore mines are plastic containers in which high explosive plastic c4 material is packed with ball bearings and exploded remotely and are usually kept on the ground or tied to a tree. The missiles travel at high speed and are able to pierce vehicles such as the bus carrying civilians at Kebithigollewa that killed 65 and this police vehicle. While intensifying the wave of claymore bomb attacks the LTTE claimed it had caught a Karuna group recruit who was trying to place a claymore bomb in side their territory with the help of the Sri Lanka Army.
