THERE ARE NO "LTTE CONTROLLED AREAS IN SRI LANKA"

S Senarath, Canberra

In Sri Lanka there should be nothing called "LTTE controlled areas" - an area currently comprised of more than 75% of the north and east.

One country can never have two armies.

It is high time that the Sri Lankan military enters all areas including the so called "LTTE controlled areas" of Sri Lanka and annihilate the Tamil Tiger menace for ever.

It is high time we annihilate the illegal Thamil Ealam Army, Navy, Air force, Police, courts, customs, immigration, tax system and administrative bureaucracy.

These cannot exist in a sovereign Sri Lanka.

Let's kill Prabhakaran first - then the war is 75% won.

It is true that in 2002 Ranil handed over more than 1/3 of the country on a platter to the Terrorist Leader Prabhakaran. But the MOU is illegal as it was contrary to the country's constitution (even the Tiger accept this).

Any intelligent person would understand that the LTTE will never give up its claim for the Ealam and the country must never succumb to that demand. Sri Lanka has been one nation for over 2500 years.

The Tamil terrorists are attacking us so fiercely but we will not reciprocate!

The government, by agreeing that our forces should not fire the first bullet, has put a very dangerous and unfair risk on the lives of our military. Hundreds of brave military men have already died this year because of this.

The military has to wait until the terrorists come and attack them, then the Tigers flee back to Ranil's "LTTE controlled areas" - which the military cannot enter.

Hundreds of innocent Sinhalese villagers have also died this year because of Tamil Tiger violence, especially in the east, as the military is unable to protect them all the time.

Innocent Sinhalese villagers who were shopping for the Sinhala New Year in April at the Trincomalee market place were massacred by a Tamil Tiger bomb. About 15 died; 50 were wounded critically. About 30 villagers including infants were hacked to death in the Sinhalese villages of Gomarankadawela and Welikanda in north central Sri Lanka. Again in Welikanda 12 Sinhalese youth were shot and brutally massacred by LTTE child soldiers. There are many more such reports.

None of the these Tamil perpetrators were caught and brought to justice because after committing the crimes they flee back to Ranil's "LTTE controlled areas" (because of the illegal MOU the government forces cannot enter these areas).

These Tamil perpetrators will come back again and again and kill hundreds of more Sinhalese civilians. Can we simply allow this to happen anymore?

How many more thousands of innocent Sinhalese are to die like this?

Even Lord Buddha preached that the King must protect its subjects. Our President must protect all of his subjects, including the Sinhalese in the threatened villages.

We must attack the tigers now and annihilate this terrorist cancer forever. Then only Sri Lanka for all of its people will become a peaceful place.

The peace talks are a mere sham and a just a waste of time and money. It only gives more legitimacy to the terrorists, that Ranil first gave.

The Sri Lankan Government leaders and the UNP must get rid of its inferiority complex that the Tigers are stronger than us and that the government cannot win a war over them. The Sri Lankan governments, the present and the past have implied that we should succumb to Tiger demands. This is nothing else but a pathetic situation, that denigrate the great people of Sri Lanka.

Annihilating the Tigers is the only option to safeguard mother Lanka. We are dealing with a terrorist megalomaniac, Prabhakaran. Until he and his group are annihilated totally by hunting them down (let's bomb Prabhakaran's bunker first), Sri Lankans will never be able to say that their country is safe. We must safeguard our country for future generations now, and not later.

The country's economy may suffer and innocent civilians from both sides may die further. The country may go backwards and become more poor. But it is worth to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity of mother Lanka.

We must preserve our precious land first before talking about economics.

We must not be hesitant to obtain support from foreign countries such as the US, Israel, Pakistan, etc., especially in regards to military intelligence. If the international community do not help us militarily that's ok. Let us the brave Sri Lankans do it on our own. Let's put our brave son Sarath Fonseka and other true patriots in command of the operations.

If a proper, honest war is waged against the murderous terrorist invaders, the entire nation will join in.

Good, honest, clever and visionary people must be given the leadership to run the war, and not the 'mercenary' type of military campaign waged by a corrupt government officials especially during Chandrika's time.

In Sri Lanka, we have a very brave and young army that vastly outnumbers the Prabhakaran's army. If our army is given full military strength with proper political and military leadership, we could win this war.

The government must be fully genuine and committed to the war. The safety and well being of the military must become the paramount concern of the government.

The way things are happening, especially with Norway's dirty work, we may lose the country anyway, but it is still not too late to preserve it. It is better to fight a war and lose the country than to just hand it over (more 1/3 of land and ¾ of the coast) on a golden platter to the terrorist leader. We should not become so menial and cowardly as to succumb to this megalomaniac terrorist leader. Let's enter into "LTTE controlled areas" now and wipe out this terrorist forever. Let's kill Prabhakaran first.
