Stringent Remedial Action Needed Against The LTTE Terrorists! The Buck Has To Stop Somewhere!

For LankaWeb ~ April 27th,2006

These are times when world condemnation of international terrorism is at its highest level wherever terrorism is manifest! Yet in Sri Lanka, ridiculing all the animosities the world feels against the concept of terrorism The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam(LTTE) have unimpeded, unconditional carte blance towards carrying out their attrocities at will in the name of being freedom fighters but in reality are a bunch of conscienceless ruthless murderers!

The ludicrousness of this concept however lies in the overall reality that they are not freedom fighters at all, never have been, noe ever will be. Neither do they represent all of the Tamils in Sri Lanka and the irony of it all is the manner whereby they are nonetheless tolerated in Sri Lanka as an entity with a right to exist without being put down permanently with all the resources now available to the Sri Lanka Authorities! For the time being it is expected that Col.Karuna and his brave operatives will need to eat their hearts out in silence albeit the chances of being called to action not an indispensably distinct possibility!
There is no need on the part of any sages or profound soothsayers to dwell on the speculation that "Once again these mendacious criminals have shown that they are by no stretch of the imagination truly interested in any negotiated settlement to the ethnic conflict in Sri Lanka, something which appears to be etched in stone and needing to be confronted with reslove towards a permanent solution rather than the concept of rehabilitating a non rehabilitatable entity.

The LTTE seem to be motivated by desperation rather than a genuine interest in contributing towards Sri Lanka's Peace as they are not indicating any rational direction they might be headed towards alleviating Sri Lanka's problems beyond rabid attrocities intended to justify their own existence which continue to claim innocent lives and to the contrary there can be no justification whatsoever. This seems to suggest that it may be a wasted effort to attempt to bring them to the Peace Table purely because it seems to be to their disadvantage to do so, their open unwillingness bearing testimony to this and would be to the disadvantage of Sri Lanka to continue restraint even in moderation as the core of the Nation's existence is likely to be shaken further should the LTTE be permitted any further leeway towards their continued attrocities and crimes against humanity which indeed they are and have been since the inception of their terror campaigns.
The latest heinous and cowardly suicide attack by the LTTE on the Sri Lankan Army Commander's motorcade provides sufficient reason to infer as further evidence that they in all probabilities dread the prospect of any settlement which would compromise their existence where the fears for their own survival and future seems to be magnifying in the North and North-East of Sri Lanka. This rationale has to be based on the responses of the Tamil populace in these regions where vast numbers of rational, moderate Tamils have indicated a desire to be at peace with the rest of the country and have denounced the autocratic idealogies of Velupillai Prabhakaran and his band of cowardly thugs to whom human life is as useless as their own defecations and who in reality and in the best interests of Sri Lanka need to be flushed out of their lairs in the Vanni and eradicated as one would a band of rabid dogs with absolutely no restituiton and dealt with as the diseased curs they truly represent!

According to many stringent believers in the theory of meting out justice as an when applicable, the restraint the Sri Lankan Government showed in the aftermath of the Kadirgamar assassination appears to have been a wasted effort which has given courage to these worthless degenerates and should have been a foremost national priority in the area of Defence had they been taken out soon after the assassination despite the intricacies such an operation would have involved notwithstanding the innuendo, denials and disclaiming of responsibility by the LTTE when all intelligence reports confirmed their involvement! where a page taken out of Israel's book on Military retaliation might have been well in order where the Nation lost one of its greatest leaders who had spearheaded Sri Lanka towards a great posterity which was dashed as a resuly of his untimely demise!
It is fast becoming apparent that the LTTE's reluctance to participate in peace talks and to the contrary indulge in repeated acts of provocation against the Sri Lankan Government in an attempt to draw them into a military confrontation has a dire and sinister motive which would consequently end the Peace Process and Ceasefire while synonymously inviting the attention of the World Community to their false portrayal of the Sri Lankan Government as a ruthless anti Tamil military machine and consequent sympathies perhaps to their advantage.

Despite such a scenario what the LTTE do not realise is that the game as far as their manipulative tactics this time around is comprehensively over and that the world will not buy their theatrics nor will the Government of Sri Lanka who even this late in the turmoil created by the LTTE which would normally explode into fully fledged military action has called upon their leadership still prefering to hide in the Vanni to dialogue and negotiation which many Sri Lankan's now believe is a worthless and wasted effort!

As the prominent Indian News Journal The Hindu Newspaper of India has aptly expressed, quote " Holed up in the Vanni, the LTTE leadership believes the international community will ignore its ruthless terrorist record, its recruitment of child soldiers, and its intolerance of dissent and democracy, and, above all, recognise it as a legitimate force fighting for Tamil rights. Winning legitimacy would help the LTTE cover considerable distance on the road to an independent Tamil Eelam where it wants to establish a self-serving rule over the Tamils. Thus do the LTTE hope to secure its future. This was the reasoning behind the LTTE assassination of Lakshman Kadirgamar in August 2005; behind all its attacks on the Sri Lankan military that have claimed the lives of more than a hundred soldiers and sailors since last November; and behind its attempt to foment anti-Tamil ethnic violence in Trincomalee earlier this month. With each incident, the LTTE's motives only stand exposed further. " end quote where little else needs to be said to stress the perverse immoralities of LTTE intent! and a point for all patriotic Sri Lankan's to ponder upon towards the best mode of actions needed towards resolving Sri Lanka's woes!

The following remedies have been suggested by prominet LankaWeb Features columnist Nissanka as quoted and seem to bear more than a semblance of truth towards being applicable should the Sri Lankan Authorities choose to go the distance and heed the advice!

"1. Ban the LTTE as a terrorist organization in Sri Lanka. The same should apply for LTTE front organizations such as the TRO.

2. Attack all known LTTE bases round the clock - including night bombing that is known for its effectiveness to demoralize the vermin that much faster.
3. Choke off LTTE's 'kangaroo regime' by severing electricity from the South.

4. Cut off all telecommunication links to the LTTE areas to disrupt LTTE's' intelligence network'.
5. Continue the stance that Sri Lanka is neither violating the CFA nor declaring war where the present retaliatory measures are in response to LTTE violations and towards preserving National Security which is the bounden right of any Sovereign Nation!

When The LTTE broke the CFA and declared a shadow war on GOSL last November/December nobody, including the Norwegians, SLMM, Indians, US, UK, EU, Australia and Canada, gave a HOOT!" beyond lip service towards restraint and the events of today are a direct result of overblown tolerance where kindness has been mistaken for weakness by the LTTE!
