News Release

In Terms of an industry revival initiative proposed by the Ministry of Tourism a decision was taken at the Cabinet in March this year to postpone the date of implementation of the USS 10 visa fee imposed on all foreign passport holders traveling to Sri Lanka till 01st July 2007. Considering a recommendation made by the Ministry to Tourism appreciating the loss of business the industry is currently experiencing the authorities of the Ministry of finance have now agreed to give further lead time (with sufficient advance notice) before the implementation of this decision. The Ministry of Tourism hopes that this will give more predictability to the industry to enter into new business contacts with their foreign counterparts.
