Joint tourism promotion programme to promote Chinese Tourist market

Sri Lanka and Maldives Governments have decided to launch a joint tourism promotion programme to promote Chinese Tourist market. Minister of Tourism, Milinda Moragoda and Maldives visiting Minister of tourism and Civil Aviation Dr. Mahmood Shaugec had a discussed on this proposal at a conference held at the Ministry of Tourism yesterday.

As part of the MOU singed in year 2004 by both countries, Maldives Tourism Promotion Board will support to campaign Sri Lanka as a tourist distention and Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management will provide 25 scholarships to them for develop there Human resources. The Spokesman of the ministry said they would hold meeting with at ministerial level annually and every six months a committee follow up level action meeting to work closely.

Faiszar Musthapha , Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Abdul Hameed Zakariyya, Visiting Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr P.M. Leelarathne, Secretary of Tourism, Mr George Michael, Additional Secretary of Tourism, Mr Renton de Alwis Chairman Sri Lanka Tourist Board and several officials were associated with the event.
