Mr Kannangara Should Get His Facts Right And Change His Perceptions Towards Being More Objective.

Sunny The Seeing Eye ~ Sightscreens Unlimited For LankaWeb

November 14th 2007

Mr Dilrook Kannangara who has submitted the following item "The Ministers Puppet and Muppet -Gate" seems to have a few wires crossed and a mix up of names and designations in his outburst against someone whom he describes as Samson Atapattu former Sri Lankan Captain and whom he constantly refers to as Samson when it really should be Marvan unless that might be a middle name but one he is hardly known by and vey probably to the sound of muffled titters from anyone reading it, this seems a feeble attempt at carving up one of Sri Lanka's finest cricketers who deserves much better than tirades of this nature! Another bizzare twist to Mr Kannangara's tale suggests that Atapattu and Ranatunga are related by marriage and if this be the case must be a closely guarded secret!
While Marvan Atapattu who has spoken out against the Selectors of the Sri Lankan team has attracted the attention of many who have agreed with him in principle that the inner core of the SLCB seems to be suspect and players victimised although Mr. Kannangara's diatribe makes it sound like a comedy of errors while also giving poor Marvan a bit of crusty lip in very poor taste. He has also dragged in the names of retired cricketer Upul Chandana as though Chandana is already packing his bags to join the Lankans in Australia and has somewhat naively cited Sydney Morning Herald Columnist Chloe Saltau known for her notoriety and affinity for controversy to whom the more discerning pay scant attention and while adding insult to injury has also cited another former Sri Lankan Skipper Arjuna Ranatunga calling him Sanjeeva while constantly refering to Atapattu as Sampson. He might as well have refered to the two of them as Tweedledum and Tweedledee to add to the humour of it all!
While the ludicrousness of this item appears very visible, the gentleman who normally posts very sensible politically correct items has either been the object of some practical joker egging him on or he knows precious little about the goings on at the highest level of Sri Lankan Cricket and has waded into the deep end in attempting to be a cricket analyst cum censor of Sri Lankan cricket where it seems hard to surmise that he has met with any measure of success at all, relative to the point he is trying to make as his presentation seems to be a very negative offer and a somewhat mixed up one at that!
He would be well advised to get his facts , figures, names and circumstances right before he gets into deeper water on this issue, take a life jacket with him just in case and also do a bit of cross referencing into the items which appeared on LankaWeb under the following captions and dates which all attest to the senses and sensibilities surrounding the issue and what a fine gentleman Mr Marvan Atapattu is known to be both on and off the playing field!

This would seem a far better option than the load of rubbish his submission under reference is tantamount to which displays not only an apathetic ignorance about the real circumstances surrounding the Atapattu incident, what led upto it but also carries insults very unbecoming of a Lankan directed at a fellow Lankan and most importantly at someone who has brought great credit to the cricketing successes of Sri Lanka with his prowess and decorum!

If it is indeed Marvan that is being cited in Mr Kannangara's submission "The Ministers Puppet and Muppet- gate " it really belongs in a funnies section of a tabloid as it has every appearance of accidental satire! It is also a load of crap that Marvan lacks team spirit, is ungentlemanly or has made any personal statement detrimental to the National team as suggested by Mr. Kannangara as there appear to be many silent assentors to Marvan's rationale which at the end of it all could even be taken as tongue in cheek!

If this is an attempt to discredit Marvan Atapattu for whatever wrong reason, I'm afraid Mr Dilrook Kannangara seems to have made a hash of it and is barking up the wrong tree!

In fact he owes Marvan an apology!!
