MAHELA, THE BEST CAPTAIN INTERNATIONALLY

Sunny's reply in response to my earlier comments contained all the hall-marks of constructive criticisms. I do not believe we should go around in musical chairs trying to find an alternative Captain before the March World Cup or even after the World Cup, regardless of SL's performances. Mahela is by far the most ruthless, cunning, shrewd skipper we ever had, in fact he supersedes Arjuna, in those qualities. But his level of intelligence becomes subordinate to emotions, which he should control. He is a fine man in my books to retain the Captaincy for few more years. He is strong as an excellent planner, forward looking, 100% committed to winning SL team always. I have no doubt, Mahela himself must be the saddest person in SL for the results achieved in the final series, just before the World Cup.

In regard to Team compositon, the writer is disappointed that Upul Tharanga was dropped instantly. Same thing happened to Chamara Kapugedera, Saman Jayantha on an " in and out" basis, whilst senior poor performers enjoys the Carnival regardless. Farveez Mohommed is a true all-rounder and he must have the likes of Upul Chandana with Dilshan. Dilhara should not have been in the WC squad, Nuwan Zoysa is definitely a better bet. Inclusion of Nuwan Kulasekera is great, he will be one of the best bowlers in time to come.

To give maximum options to Mahela, my squad of 15 for WC team consist of: Sanath, Upul Taranga, Dilshan, Chamara, Kumar, Farveez, Mahela, Upul Chandana, Chaminda, Murali,
Lasith, Bandara, Nuwan Kulasekera, Nuwan Zoysa and recall of
Romesh Kaluwitharana!

This composition will send our opponents into hiding with blisters.
