BRITISH HIGH COMMISSION
PRESS RELEASE
Today's edition of the Daily News newspaper carries an article entitled
"British High Commissioner misled" which describes a meeting
held yesterday between the High Commissioner and Defence Secretary to
discuss the role of the media in Sri Lanka.
The British High Commission wishes to keep private the content of the
discussion yesterday. But the Daily News reports that the High Commissioner
"realised that the journalist had misled him and given him bogus
information".
The High Commissioner would like to make it clear that he did not make
any statement to that effect in his meeting with the Defence Secretary.
