Eight air craft destroyed in Anuradhapura attack - Air Force

Air Force officials today (24) said, eight air craft including five trainer craft were destroyed following Monday's LTTE attack at the Anuradhapura SLAF base on 22nd October.

The latest revelation was made by Air Force officials, following preliminary investigations made at the aftermath of the attack. The investigations are led by a team consisting of Air Force officers under the directives of the Air Forces chief, Air Vice Marshal Roshan Gunathilake.

In addition to the above numbers, another BELL 212 helicopter crashed in Mihintale due to technical failure, Air Forces sources said. A partly damaged MI-24 gunship can be made airworthy after repairs, Air Force said.
