HOW COULD INDIA VANQUISH MUMBAI LIKE TERRORISM WHEN KARUNANIDHI WANTS TO BAIL OUT PRABHAKARAN?

By Abhiman Perera

M. KARUNANIDHI, KANIMOZHI T.R.BAALU MEETING SONIA

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Muthuvel Karunanidhi , his close political follower and Union Minister T. R. Baalu and DMK Rajya Sabha M.P. and the secret friend of the banned terrorist movement Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) Kanmozhi , who is also the daughter of Karunanidhi met Sonia Gandhi , the head of the ruling Congress Party of India.

Ironically, the Tamil Nadu group met Sonia in this expedient political meeting to examine ways to bring pressure on the fragile coalition government to impose a ceasefire on Sri Lanka and bailout the tottering terrorist leader Velupillai Prabhakaran and murderer of Rajiv Gandhi , the late husband of Sonia from the inglorious military submission he is about to make to the advancing Sri Lankan security forces.

Karunanidhi triumphantly told the press, “, "I requested the prime minister to send Mukherjee to issue a strong warning to the Sri Lankan government to announce a ceasefire immediately and to hold peaceful negotiations with them."

Thought to be more rhetoric than fact it was only few weeks ago Karunanidhi had been told by New Delhi that India does not have the power to impose a ceasefire in the internal conflict in a neighbouring country .

The matter has been also made more complicated by the fact , that the Tamil civilians , about whom Karunanidhi is purportedly worried, are constantly being prevented from leaving the war zone by the LTTE itself. Jaffna’s Roman Catholic Bishop Thomas Saundranayagam, a Tamil himself wanted the Indian government to bring pressure on the LTTE to release them from the war zone so that they could easily escape to safer areas. Apparently, as the Sri Lankan government alleges the LTTE is using them as a human shield.

There are two reasons why Karunanidhi and Kanimozhi , the daughter are involved in a bail out effort for the Rajiv Gandhi killers, Velupillai Prabhakaran and Pottu Amman and take them to a safe haven. At least, part of LTTE’s millions of dollars accumulated in British Banks by drug and gun running could be easily accessible for the most ambitious Kanimozhi who is being promoted as the next “uncrowned queen” of Tamil Nadu for the vigorous political campaigns. The other is that the DMK wants to look good at the next general elections coming in May by “saving” the Tamils. He is doing other things getting prepared for the elections like burying the hatchet with his grand nephews, the Marans and unifying the family.

Palaniappan Chidambaram , a Tamil Nadu politician who has become the Union Home Minister after Mumbai terrorist attack has said that India is determined to “vanquish” the challenge of terrorism and will take steps to remedy the lapses that led to the attacks, and made a whole city paralyzed and 170 people dead in a matter of few hours.

The bigger question before India is how it is going to vanquish terrorism and help bail out at the same time the most vicious Sri Lankan terrorist group in the world , which India itself created under the regime of Indira Gandhi.

By these acts , India is getting exposed to the world that it is equally responsible for terrorism in South Asia like Pakistan , which India loved to accuse, even before any evidence unfolded, in the midst of the Mumbai attack.
