FOUR LTTE SUSPECTS CAUGHT WITH LARGE HAUL OF PLASTIC EXPLOSIVES IN KANDY

Three days after the killing of the senior government Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle by a Tamil Tiger suicide bomber the Police have discovered a large haul of plastic explosives in the Kandy District ,and arrested four people in connection with the find , police said.

A police officer in the investigations said that “probably these explosives are meant for another suicide attack.”in the Kandy area.

Kandy is a city many VIP’s travel often from Colombo for varied purposes and is the hill capital of the country, where the famous Temple of the Tooth is located. The Temple of the Tooth also had been targeted once before by the LTTE killing many pilgrims..

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is the only terrorist group who have obtained the plastic explosives in Sri Lanka and they are the pioneers and experts in the manufacturing of the suicide jackets who have so far killed two heads of state both in Sri Lanka and India using the devices.

In their latest attack , last Sunday the LTTE allegedly killed Highways Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle and 13 others including many athletes at a New Year marathon.
