Recurring Nightmare for Sri Lanka – Targeting of Sri Lanka

Human rights should be for all and not merely for the privileged people
in Western countries. It also has to be mentioned that organisations
such as AI and HRW that has a neo colonialist attitude are not the sole
custodians of human rights. My writing below refers to the recent reports
(2008) issued by AI and HRW.
The bogus human rights organisations such as AI and HRW repeatedly
produce biased reports, based on false secondary data. Very often the
reports are inaccurate. Both AI and HRW fail to realise that GoSL is
fighting for survival against one of the deadliest, fascist terrorist
groups in the world, that are attempting to carve out a part of Sri
Lanka, for a mono ethnic racist Tamil state. HRW fail to recognise that
in the late 1970s, 27000 Sinhalese were driven out from their homes
in the Northern part of Sri Lanka. Further, 400 Sinhala Students were
The forced out from the Jaffna University.
The purpose of the reports issued by AI and HRW appear to be, to show
justification for their existence to their donors, to show that they
are doing something in the Human Rights field. Some of their donors
may very well be terrorists or terrorist sympathisers. AI and HRW need
to recognise that they do not have a monopoly on Human rights. Some
suspect that neo-colonialists based in New York, have hijacked human
rights for their own agenda. Many believe that LTTE has managed to plant
agents in HRW and AI. Many of the reports issued by HRW give the impression
that a LTTE agent is actually working in a HRW office and draft their
reports. For example, HRW wanted action taken against the ex terrorist
Karuna, who has joined the democratic stream. At the same time, HRW
said nothing against the main terrorist group LTTE or the urgent need
to neutralise them. Action against Karuna is the desire of LTTE and
HRW is merely promoting that desire. Karuna was in Police custody in
UK and UK has far more resources to deal with the allegations against
Karuna than Sri Lanka. UK did not charge Karuna. Yet the jokers in HRW
want Sri Lanka, that has far less resources, to act against Karuna.
This of course is a silly request by HRW, simply parroting LTTE.
I have to give HRC credit for reminding the world about the killing
of a large number of law enforcement officials (over 400) by LTTE, after
they surrendered to LTTE during the CFA period. We certainly have to
investigate and find the truth.
The respect Sri Lankans had for AI, vanished when they initiated their
silly ‘cricket ball’ campaign. The vicious, vindictive nature
and the hollowness of AI and HRW is there for all to see and verify,
when HRW apparently coordinated the statements issued by Nobel price
winners, very close to elections for UN HRC seats. The timing did not
give Sri Lanka, any chance to defend itself. The ‘Nobel price winners’
incident shows the attitude of AI and HRW to the rights of others, to
defend themselves against false allegations. These jokers talk about
the rights of others, when they show no respect to the rights of others
and even show no respect to natural justice.
Sri Lanka need to recognise that enemies of Sri Lanka, plan ahead and
connive to act against Sri Lanka. Whilst GoSL was sleeping, the enemies
of Sri Lanka was very active, conniving against Sri Lanka. Again as
I mentioned several times earlier, there is a need to have a structured
approach to dealing with LTTE propaganda and also for the defence of
the country from its enemies. It is important that Sri Lanka seek the
help of various minority rights groups to save us from defeat from global
Tamil racism.
Many suspect that many of the INGOs operating in Sri Lanka have their
own agendas of propagating Christianity in Sri Lanka, thereby destroying
the fabric of Sri Lanka. It is also known that HRW and AI have links
and informal networks with many INGOs operating in Sri Lanka. It is
likely that the biased and false information that AI and HRW obtain
is through these INGOs. It is also thought that many INGOs engage in
unethical conversion of Buddhists, thereby earning a bad name for INGOs.
No offence is intended on INGOs that genuinely want to help the people
rather than promote their Christian culture.
Unfortunately, the field of human rights has been hijacked by HRW and
AI for their own gains.
For people in developing countries, the basic human rights would be
food, water and shelter and a job so that they can pay for food, water
and shelter. The bogus HR organisations should stop being the mouth
piece for terrorists and should work towards providing food, water and
shelter and jobs for all humans. If they do that they can shed the ‘bogus’
image and become genuine HR organisations.
If these bogus human rights orgs at least bother to find out about
Maslow’s theory of motivation and human needs [1], then they would
know that what the average Sri Lankan want most is having enough healthy
food, air, water to survive and physical safety & security. Thousands
of poor Sri Lankans are dying in NCP, due to poor quality water and
we do not hear even a whisper from these bogus human rights organisations
such as AI and HRW. Hundreds die in Sri Lanka due to terrorist action,
resulting from insufficient safety and security. When the GoSL is taking
appropriate action, all we hear from bogus HR orgs is protests. AI and
HRW have ignored the kidnapping by LTTE of Tamil children from their
homes , temple festivals, roads , playgrounds and the schools and brainwashing
them to become killers and suicide bombers.
We do not even hear from Ms Arbour about the human rights of the peasants
in NCP that are dying in thousands due to lack of uncontaminated drinking
water. We hear about protests from AI about press freedom, and they
keep mum about the lack of uncontaminated drinking water for the people
in NCP. It is not surprising that AI and HRW are known as clowns.
Sri Lanka is being destroyed by terrorists that raise their funds in
Western countries. Yet AI and HRW make no attempt to persuade Western
countries to take action against fund raising by LTTE or their fronts.
All they do is lash out at the victim Sri Lanka, and do nothing against
terrorists. HR organisations have ignored the lamp post killings, burning
alive their opponents, plucking infants from their mothers arms and
bashing their heads among rocks by LTTE but continue to lash out at
Sri Lanka.
The bogus human rights organisations appear to ignore the malnutrition,
high illiteracy, high infant mortality and poor health care for the
poor, but simply defend the rights of terrorists.
Sri Lanka and other developing countries have to be protected from
these neo colonialists that masquerade as human rights organisations.
