LTTE & "Cats on Hot Bricks"

By Darmitha-Kotte

Today it has been reported that our Armed Forces have captured Pooneryn. On the 12th of November it was reported in the newspapers that the Combined Forces "….. had entered Kumulamunai located 13 Km south of the LTTE's Mullaitivu bastion." The LTTE had abandoned their stronghold. Is there anyone so unpatriotic in Sri Lanka who wishes to deny the victories that our brave soldiers have achieved in what was formerly termed as "LTTE strongholds"? Who are the civilians who have suffered most in these areas- are they Muslims, Sinhalese or Tamils whom the LTTE proclaims to be representing and for whom they are supposedly fighting for a homeland?

It is not a falsehood to state that the LTTE has been holding the innocent Tamils living in those areas to ransom and torture-let us forget about a homeland because such a place is already available in Tamil Nadu located in South India. No single community can claim to have more than ONE HOMELAND anywhere on this earth. If it was not the case, we can be quite sure that Tamils living in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, France, Sweden, Norway, UK, USA, Canada, Germany and Switzerland -will all be claiming homelands in all these countries! If someone were to conduct a census in those countries, it would be quite evident that there are more Tamils living in those countries than all the Tamils put together who are living here in Sri Lanka. Why have the LTTE not begun to agitate for a homeland in those highly lucrative countries? On the other hand, will they be permitted to make such claims in those countries given the fact that in countries like Singapore and Malaysia, the second largest ethnic group apart from Singaporean Chinese and Malays in Malaysia happens to be Tamils no matter whether they originate from India or Sri Lanka.

There is no doubt that the LTTE will probably have a few more cards to play before they finally accede defeat at the hands of our valiant combined Armed Forces in the not so far away near future. The reason for the defeat would undoubtedly be due to the fact, that the ordinary Tamil living in the North has now begun to realize that for thirty years, the LTTE has been making "devils" and "murderers" of the innocent and peace loving Sinhalese and Muslims living in all parts of the country together with their Tamil brethren while only in the North, there is no such peace and harmony due to the brutality of the blood-thirsty LTTE terrorists! The successive victories earned by the Armed Forces is due to the fact, that theirs is an onward march to save all human beings who are being held to ransom by the LTTE in a bid to divide Sri Lanka. No true patriotic Sri Lankan wishes to see this beautiful country cut into pieces merely to satisfy the hunger of a minority group of terrorists called "the LTTE". All citizens living in the North, want to return to life of total peace and harmony and want to see the total elimination of terrorism wiped out of their lives for ever!

In the backdrop of this most interesting scenario, we see today that there are many "uncomfortable cats who are sitting on hot bricks." These are cats are all the anti-national forces who wished from the bottom of their hearts, that terrorism would over rule and murder their way through to victory to create an eternal hell of this beautiful island of Sri Lanka.

In the political arena we see the UNP and JVP making desperate attempts to destabilize our GOSL and the Armed Forces. We have been watching how UNP has been sending emissaries to western countries and also to India and Pakistan our neighbouring countries as well as to The Vatican, to "update these governments on the humanitarian abuses committed by our Armed Forces and the GOSL" -what is the earthly explanation that the likes of Dr. Jayalath Jayawardane can give the country about his recent trips overseas? Who appointed him-was it the UNP or The Catholic Church in Sri Lanka that made him their " tale carrying emissary" to The Holy See? Does the UNP & Dr.J.Jayawardane understand that we the citizens are watching their traitorous activities very closely no matter how he tries to sugar coat his explanations? Where was The Vatican, The Pope and all The Bishops of Sri Lanka through thirty years when the LTTE murderers were breaking all humanitarian norms with their brutality? We also have politicians like Tissa Attanayake, Ranil Wickramasinghe, Mangala Samaraweera of "Sudu Nelum" fame who backtracked our soldiers in the war front by carrying on the "peace marches" for Chandrika Kumaratunga now rattling glorious stories of the financial waste brought on the citizens due to the war. He forgets to mention the millions of Rupees he wasted at each Ministry of which he held the portfolio of Minister purely to satisfy his artistic whims to refurbish his office! Spending State money to supply our soldiers with what they need to fight a terrorist war, is certainly not a waste of State Funds. But spending State Funds to renovate your office-definitely is an unwarranted waste. We really do not expect much from a person who organised a march to Kataragama to smash coconuts and curse our Maha Sangha!

The most vociferous and active INGOs and NGOs are today running helter-skelter trying to find ways and means of stopping the victories of the Armed Forces against the reign of terrorism which to them, was so very lucrative in their business ventures in Sri Lanka. So long as terrorism survived in this country organisations like the UN, Save The Children's Fund, UNICEF. Foundation for Peaceful Co-existence, Sarvodaya (which is so prosperous that they now even have Sarvodaya Banks to lend money), CPA, ICES of which Mr. Parkiasothy Saravanamuttu is a live wire and agitator for peace to pamper terrorists, the Women's Fronts led by Sunila Abeysekera who has won accolades for distorting situations committed by the terrorists but has left no stones unturned to criticize the GOSL which is fighting against the world's most brutal terrorist outfit in a bid to protect the "un-divided sovereignty of Sri Lanka" for the welfare of the entire NATION- not just a minority of terrorists. How much has Sunila been able to stop the LTTE brutality against women and children for her to win international Awards?
In the face of military victories against the terrorists such so called " human rights activists" are agitated because they have no future in a country once terrorism is wiped out.

Of all the cats mentioned above, sadly we have to mention the roles played by Catholic Churches and their Bishops, the National Christian Council of Sri Lanka in the entire thirty years terrorist war in Sri Lanka and how they have manipulated each successive government, into making allowances for the LTTE terrorists even by the mere fact, that they have been physically present and photographed at terrorist functions & ceremonies at which Prabhakaran, Thamil Selvam and the likes have been in attendance to glorify terrorism. We beg to ask whether or not all these Sri Lankan Christian Fathers whether or not they have been born and bred in Sri Lanka enjoying all the perks from childhood to adulthood beginning from education onwards, whether or not they hold National Identity Cards stating that they are "Sri Lankan" in which their allegiance must be to the State and not to terrorists and murderers for whatever reasons. Recently Bishop Chickera who vowed never to set foot on British soil (because he would not give his finger print and insult himself) was seen addressing many Christian congregations in UK at which he gave his own distorted viewpoints which were not favourable or let us say, put the GOSL in a negative light. How he managed to get to UK without his finger print, is another story! Numerous are the reports we have seen in the newspapers how Christian Reverend Fathers have been involved in transporting arms and ammunition including suicide kits and claymore bombs for the LTTE while preaching humanitarianism to the GOSL about displaced IDPs etc. Can they show any country the world over, where there is a raging war against terrorism where civilians "stay put" where ever they have been living without being displaced and sent to refugee camps? Why are such civilians sent to camps- is it not because the GOSL is concerned about their safety and welfare? Otherwise, wouldn't they be allowed to go into disarray and die? Hypocrisy and Christian hypocrisy at that, is something difficult to stomach when their double standards are seen so blatantly.

The last lot that are now feeling uncomfortable unfortunately are some of the fundamentalist Muslims who have been keeping their fingers crossed hoping against hope, that no sooner LTTE won their "Eelam War" that they could lay claims to the East as "their homeland"- Minister of Housing even began the programme by attempting to establish a King Abdullah City on the pretext of providing housing for the Tsunami victims even though it is now 4 years after the Tsunami. It is learnt that the 500 houses were to be allocated to only Muslims whereby an automatic enclave would have been created while Minister Athaulla has been holding on to a plan to get the GOSL to allocate and demarcate Samanthurai at a Muslim area by ensuring that the space demarcated could hold 35 Muslim Mosques in the area! Now that the LTTE dream seems to be shattering, fundamentalist Muslims are beginning to be touchy over realities regarding their existence in this country and are also hoping to create adverse propaganda against the GOSL.

Let us please hope and pray, that all citizens of this country will begin to understand and accept the truth about our heritage and culture and begin to live in harmony while accepting those eternal verities without trying to kill each other on false pretexts.
