UMBRELLAS TO RAISE MONEY FOR TERROR IN SRI LANKA

By Walter Jayawardhana

Umbrellas are the latest tool the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is going to use to raise money in the United Kingdom.

The British Tamil Forum (BTF) members were seen promoting the multi-coloured umbrella at a recent rally against Sri Lanka.

Moustachioed Tamil men were seen holding them, even though there was no rain, at the recent LTTE rally during the Commonwealth Mini Summit in London.

“They were giving the umbrellas for unspecified donations in public at the rally,” eyewitnesses said.
The umbrella has been advertised using a UK resident Tamil girl in the LTTE media , same sources said.

The large VIP size umbrella comes in yellow, red and black, with a Tamil Eelam logo, that shows a map of Sri Lanka which indicates the areas under their control as envisaged by them during the Ranil Wickramasinghe government. The logo shows the sprawling Eastern Province under their control, but they have lost the whole province and it is under a new provincial administration, which has come into power in alliance with the ruling party in Colombo headed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in a recently concluded election. .

The control of the LTTE is limited now to two tiny districts in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka.
Sources in Sri Lanka High Commission in London said the matter has been already brought into the attention of Scotland Yard for investigation.

LTTE is listed as a foreign terrorist organization in the United Kingdom and it is an offence to raise money for it.
