To Canada Has Expressed His Opinions To The National Post With Conviction

It is absolutely correct that never can anyone with an iota of perception
and intelligence relative to true circumstances ever compare the democratically
elected Government of Sri Lanka with a ruthless terrorist organization
such as the Tamil Tigers (LTTE), whose criminals have killed thousands
of innocent Sri Lankan Tamils, Sinhalese, Muslims, Malays and Burghers.
The Tigers are also responsible for murdering democratically elected
Sri Lankan Tamil leaders in a long list of assassinations such as Foreign
Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar and culminating to the present with the
slaying of Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle where the crimes are literally
unpardonable for their brutalities and now dates back to decades of
cowardly attacks which have secured them nothing short of disdain and
contempt!.
It is also verifiably corect that more than 60 % of Sri Lankan Tamils
today live peacefully among the Sri Lankan Sinhalese. Democratic Tamil
United Liberation Front leader V. Anandasangaree cannot even go to his
constituency office since the Tigers threatened his life. Another Sri
Lankan Tamil minister, Douglas Devananda, has escaped nearly 13 assassination
attempts by the LTTE and hence it is not the Sri Lankan Government that
poses a threat to Sri Lankan Tamils, but the LTTE terrorists who claim
to speak for them and then resort to brutal violence when Sri Lankan
Tamils dare to say otherwise which is the salient truth given the circumstances
and can be offset towards the circumstantial evidence surrounding the
realities pointing to the criminalities of the terrorists.
To totally and categorically contradict Ms. Selvarajah's allegation
that the Government of Sri Lanka is responsible for widespread abductions
and disappearances in the country seems a fair means to circumvent what
would otherwise be tantamount to a travesty of Justice where Sri Lankan
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has always been a forthright and assertive
campaigner for human rights.That it is the LTTE who are trying reverse
their guilt in the face of defeat through concocted accusations against
their adversaries who have an unalienable right to be in this capacity
needs to be emphasized for the world to understand its wrongful implications
and to discredit not only the Government of Sri Lanka but the people
of Sri Lanka contemptible and intolerable.
It has never been in doubt over the decades,particularly in a post independent
era that Sri Lanka has always prioritised the protection of her people
from those who try to victimise and incarcerate them against all odds
despite the false innuendo and accusations of the type the LTTE and
their supportives continually project shamefully in order to attract
world attention. The world must realize that not only is Sri Lanka fighting
the most ruthless separatist group, one that pioneered suicide bombings
and has used pregnant women to carry out such terrorist acts but also
the stark reality that it is a fight towards eliminating a scourge whose
idealogies have now been embraced by other terror groups in various
parts of the Globe and a fight which needs to be supported towards its
success for this singlemost important reason!.
It might be interesting to know the response of journalists such as
Mme. Selvarajah if confronted about why the killing of Tamils by the
LTTE and more recently the killing of Jeyaraj Fernandopulle and a Tamil
Catholic priest have not been mentioned in her diatribe against the
Government of Sri Lanka and why the LTTE's shameful manouverings in
collaboration with the Roman Catholic hierarchy in the region of the
400-year-old sacred Madhu shrine, sacred for all Catholics in Sri Lanka
have been conveniently by passed where the sacred Statue of the Blessed
Virgin mary has been spirited away into the enclaves of the LTTE in
the Wanni! where the responses in all probabilities would be a load
of denials and concocted excuses distancing the terrorists from any
involvement which has long been their now internationally known modus
operandi.
When the Sri Lankan Consul General suggests to Mme. Selvarajah and the
Canadian Tamil Congress to join together with all Sri Lankans and pressure
the LTTE to end its terrorist war and to help the Government of Sri
Lanka liberate thousands of innocent Tamils from the clutches of the
LTTE it is an undeniable assertion of the direction of the Government
of Sri Lanka contrary to what is thrown at the Sri Lankan Administration
on an ongoing basis by way of false accusations and blatant lies.
The exhortation to desist from misleading the people in Canada and the
rest of the world about the nature of the Tamil Tigers and their ruthless
quest for power while the orator is sitting comfortably in Canada helping
no one is sound advice where unquestionably Mme. Selvarajah would serve
Canada and Tamils living in Canada better by being honest and working
to ensure that Tamil Canadians are not harassed and threatened by Tiger
supporters trying to extort money out of them to finance terrorism by
the LTTE in Sri Lanka.
Inviting attention to H.E. Mr.Bandula Jayasekara's recent, National
Post item published on Thursday, April 24, 2008 and reiterating his
thoughts expressed about what goes on in the confines of the Island
Nation he represents as consul general to Canada it needs to be further
mentioned that many discerning Sri lankans both within and outside Sri
lanka have also read with both amusement and sadness the column by Mme.
Manjula Selvarajah in yesterday's National Post item "Sri Lanka
Has Failed to Protect All Of Its Citizens". Mme. Selvarajah appears
not only to be a misguided Sri Lankan living in Canada but part of a
huge enclave worthy of the collective title a misguided lot who tend
to pick up bits and pieces of news items in the Canadian and World press
which are mostly speculative albeit pro LTTE and distort them towards
expressing their pro terrorist idealogies and support as though it is
'a Charter of Rights' when all it is is a load of bunkum!
In summing up, his admirable attestation of Sri Lankan Government policy
and pellucidating the realities and relativities of the debilitating
effect and the contentious presence of the Tamil Tigers have H.E Mr.Bandula
Jayasekara as the Consul General for Sri Lanka in Toronto had conducted
himself equitably to his official duties and responsibilities towards
his nation and her people.
