DONT GET BEGUILED BY BOGUS CEASEFIRES AND INTENSIFY THE ANNIHILATION OF TERRORISTS

A.A.M.NIZAM MATARA.

Akin to the UNP which presents amusing Bailas from time to time to mislead the people which the patriotic and enlightened masses disdain as pure hogwash we also hear periodically some kind of funny Bailas from Ranil Wickremasinghe's cousin holed up in the Wanni. However, unlike UNP Bailas the terrorist Bailas have serious cryptic and hidden objectives embedded in them. Recently there was a flurry of such Bailas presented through proxy Voice of Terrorist channels operated by Kurunduwatte Chintana gangs. One such attempt was Terrorist Policeman Nadesan's recent interview published by a notorious rag sheet last Sunday in which this Ex-Policeman was facilitated to pooh pooh the great and glaring victories being made by our gallant security forces in Mannar, Vavuniya and Welioya fronts and repetition of the braggings we used to hear from Tamilchelvan during the East Operation that "they are making only tactical adjustments and soon they would retaliate with venomous and grave potency." On top of this desperate attempt of deceptions, particularly catered to the international community, the terrorists have now announced what they call a unilateral ceasefire as a mark of respect to the SAARC summit to be held in Colombo. Unilateral Ceasefire announcement is a known ploy used by the terrorists at all times when they are utterly desperate and totally cornered. It has become a hallmark of the terrorists and such pronouncements in the past gravely misled the Sri Lankan governments, and the international community.

The glaring and splendid victories being made by our gallant forces recently have cornered the terrorists in all fronts. The loss of western sea front bases in the Mannar coast is a severe blow to them which has closed the avenues of smuggling-in all kinds of requirements including arms, military hardware and fuel from the South Indian joints with the help of Indian fishing vessels which throng the Mannar coast in their thousands each day, besides putting a halt to sneak operations in the shallow waters under the cover of these fishing vessels. Sri Lankan naval and aerial operations in the area have forced the terrorists to flee towards Wanni with considerable loss of men and material. Similarly the sea tiger bases in other areas too are getting destroyed regularly and systematically.

Uninterrupted and continuous diminution and total destruction of the Sea Tiger outfit is very vital to eliminate the terrorist menace as a whole. Even a day’s slackness in this vital theatre of operation could enable the terrorists to regain their strength by getting the military stockpiles hidden in South India under the patronage of pro-Eelam and racist political elements, transferred through Indian fishing vessels, which include large trawlers. It would require only a few hours and not days to achieve this objective. Such facilitation would totally reverse the gains our security forces painstakingly and meticulously made in all fronts since they commenced the Northern Operation. Such an act would also be a severe and irreversible death-blow to the whole effort of gaining national liberation from the terrorist menace and would be worse than the 1987 debacle caused by the notorious “Gunboat Diplomacy”.

In the past the terrorists have used this kind of ploys several times to mislead the Sri Lankan government and the international community including the Indian neighbour. India was fooled by them at Thimpu talks at the very beginning of their fanatical craving for separatism and subsequently hoodwinked Rajiv Gandhi to violate all norms and decency of international diplomacy and good neighbourliness, and thus utilised him to force a halt to the Wadamarachchi military operation that was nearing completion, force the Sri Lankan government to accede to all their demands, and ultimately Rajiv Gandhi was inhumanly and pitilessly dumped off like a worthless stray dog.

The terrorists are well aware that President Rajapakse, unlike the Sri Lankan leaders who attended previous Saarc gatherings, would exploit the Summit to the maximum possible degree to act against their very existence. They are aware that he would thoroughly apprise the Head of States/Governments the barbaric nature of the terrorists, the damage they have caused to Sri Lanka for the last three decades, the factual near win situation of the current military operation and thus convince these leaders the need to extend joint assistance to annihilate the terrorist menace.

At a time they are fighting for their last breath it is imperative to prevent a joint action plan emerging against them through the Saarc Summit, or even a joint condemnation of them by all States in the region. The only possibility to prevent such a joint plan would be to project themselves as a peace loving harmless innocent group as against the Sri Lankan forces determined to annihilate them militarily.

Having failed to get holding of the Saarc Summit in Colombo cancelled through various forms of campaigns and agitations made during the last few weeks by deploying their mercenary gangs in the political groupings, NGOs and in the media mafia, and having failed in attempts made through protestations, fasts and appeals made by gullible racist politicians in the Tamil Nadu, including the notorious anti-Sri Lankan Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, to prevent the Indian Prime Minister attending the Summit the terrorists were forced to take the new initiative to mislead the Saarc leaders and the international community.

Due to mounting circumstantial adversity and continuous defeats in the war theatre the terrorist outfit had no other option but to come out with the Unilateral Ceasefire Call as such a ploy made earlier just after the 9/11 incident, in the global anti-terrorist environment, immensely rewarded them with Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe signing a stupid Ceasefire Agreement which inter-alia helped them gain international sympathy and recognition, gave them impunity to unleash murder and mayhem on innocent Tamils and Sri Lankan security forces, dismantled many security posts, helped smuggle-in over 15 arms shipments, bring down dozens of containers devoid of custom scrutiny, acquire control over a vast territory, garrison the security forces as nominal units and even as those bound to serve their needs, make the Sri Lankan airforce a taxi service to their leadership.

The government without getting beguiled and carried away by the bogus Ceasefire Declaration has rightly rejected it as a deviation tactic. Reports indicate that terrorist proxy Norway too is involved in this move and it has served as a postman in delivering the notice to the Sri Lankan Peace Secretariat. This is another indication that the move is a well designed ploy to save the terrorist outfit from the present security operations.

President Rajapakse has emphatically declared recently at several functions that the government will enter into peace talks only if the terrorist outfit denounces terrorism and surrender its arms. The Presidet reiterated this condition even addressing media personnel during his recent visit to India.

The favourable situation in the Northern Operation should not be abandoned under any deception, should not be slackened under any circumstance, and it should be intensified with maximum leverage until the nation is completely liberated from the horrendous terrorist menace.
