CHANNEL 4 STORY IS A HOAX

Three journalists representing the controversial Channel 4 news in London who broadcast an unsubstantiated rape story based allegedly on LTTE propaganda has been arrested , police spokesman in Colombo said.

Police spokesman Ranjith Gunasekera said the three were arrested in the Eastern Port city of Trincomalee and escorted by the Police to Colombo.

They were charged on tarnishing the image of the government security forces and the Police said the government said they are still conducting the investigations.

A member of the British parliamentary delegation who visited the same camp has said in Britain that the horror stories said about the camp are not true. Meanwhile moderate Tamil leader and President of the Tamil United Liberation Front V. Ananda Sangaree told India’s Express newspaper that the story is a hoax.

Sources said no unnatural death or rape has ever occurred at the camp as the television channel suggested.
