Detective Chief Inspector Caroline Goode of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command of London’s Metropolitan Police said that Michelle Samaraweera , the 35 year old Sri Lankan woman found dead in a park had been brutally strangulated to death by a criminal after 1 a.m. on Friday May 30th. Caroline Goode was speaking from the dead woman’s autopsy report.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The dead body was found by a passer by the morning of the same day in a nearby London Park.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ “I am appealing to her associates or friends to assist the police to trace her final moments so that the criminal who did the horrible act could be found and that would be massively helpful,” Caroline Goode said.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ She also released to this correspondent the CCTV shots recorded by the cameras of the Somerfield Department Stores , where she entered for shopping at the dead of night. In a note to this correspondent Goode said, “we are looking for sightings of Michelle between 10pm on Friday 29th May and 6am on the 30th May.”
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Caroline Goode said the story behind the Sri Lankan woman was sad since she was very much depressed by her husband’s recent death caused by a brain tumour. After that she could not sleep well and that was one reason she was engaged in some errands like shopping at night in a nearby all day stores. Goode said, Michelle’s errands when she was unable to sleep at the peculiar hours were not at all unusual.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ She was living alone, in a flat according to community friends at Kielder Close, Hainault. In London.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ She said the CCTV photos reveal that she was wearing a very prominent black jacket with white stripes on the sleeves, and someone might have remembered her movements because of the clothes she was wearing that night. At the time she was seen at the grocery stores the victim was also wearing a pink coloured vest and bluish jeans.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Michelle was found dead in a small park/play area in Queens Road E17, close to the junction with Markhouse Road , Walthamstow in London, a very run down area..
