Dear Prime Minister:

Re: Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE aka Tamil Tigers): the  “ƒ”¹…”Eelam Government in Exile’

While I expect this letter will receive a response from your Correspondence Unit, the contents of this letter I believe is worthy of your attention for the national security of our fabulous country, and I hope it will find a place in your daily “ƒ”¹…”Briefing Book‘.  I have also taken the liberty to copy this letter to Hon. Peter Van Loan, the Minister of National Security.

The world is aware that the Sri Lankan government made history on May 19th this year when they routed the most deadly terrorist group in the world, the “ƒ”¹…”Tamil Tigers’ after 30 years of war.  These are the terrorists who perfected the human bomber body-pack and the concept of the modern-day suicide bombers,   pioneered the use of women suicide bombers, and the use of ultra-light planes as night-bombers.  They were more ruthless than al Qaeda and the Taliban which a consortium of international armies is still trying to eliminate.

What was extraordinary about this wipe-out was that Sri Lanka did not get any assistance to win this war from the West, and especially from Canada that had difficulty even to say “Congratulations” on this amazing win of the much touted “unwinnable” war by International Sri Lanka-Watchers.  Canada made its choice to pander to the Tamil Diaspora who took to the streets in the thousands in April and May waving their banned Tamil Tiger flags demanding Canada to force a “Ceasefire”, and later to promote a “War Crimes Investigation” against the Sri Lanka Government.  The reason was that your Government did not want to antagonize the Tamil community which would have translated into “ƒ”¹…”No Votes  for the Conservatives from the Tamil community in the GTA’ at the next federal election.

What ought to be noted however,  is that while the Tamil communities who want to live in the North and East of Sri Lanka celebrated the demise of the Tamil Tigers and want to join the main stream  democratic politics to seek solutions for their grievances and live in harmony with the majority Sinhalese and other minority groups, the Tamil Diaspora who are living in comfort in Canada are trying to re-ignite the doused boiling pot wanting to establish  their mythical,  separate mono-ethnic, racist Tamil State Eelam in Sri Lanka.

Towards that goal, as predictable as Night is followed by Day, they have formed the “ƒ”¹…”Eelam Government in Exile’.  But Canada has to watch out and not be bamboozled as the “ƒ”¹…”Eelam Government in Exile’ has used creative semantics to call themselves as the “ƒ”¹…”Provisional Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam.”  Whichever way they wish to clone the pig, they are of the same pork, and would taste the same.  The US State Department’s Gregg Sullivan has already announced that the US will not recognize this Tamil Eelam Transnational Government, and I hope that the Canadian Government too  will make it quite clear of our intention by announcing the same without much delay.

Prime Minister, Canada should be quite serious about this development as we are already linked to this Eelam Government in Exile as its Advisory Committee has appointed Professor Rev. A.J.C Chandrakanthan of Toronto as an expert to chart the course to achieve their separate Tamil State Eelam.  And into the mix, this  “ƒ”¹…”Provisional Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam’ will be  making claims for the Tamil Tiger assets in Canada which is valued at billions of dollars which might help to buy Canada’s support to achieve their ultimate goal.

I understand that lobbying for this “ƒ”¹…”Provisional Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam”  has already begun, and at no point should we try to dislodge the democratic sovereign nation of Sri Lanka, and disrupt the lives of its civilians who are now in the throes of reconciliation and harmony to establish peace in that island. And they deserve it.  They certainly would have nothing to do with Canadian-Tamils who are living in a lap of luxury here and who think they are the masters of the destiny of the Tamils living in Sri Lanka, the ones who refuse to hop on a plane and land on our shores claiming that they are “Refugees” like the 200,000 who have already done so far.

So, let us respect their wishes and rein in the Tamils living in Canada and ask them to keep their hands off Sri Lanka and their Tamil civilians. The bottom line is, let us not invite terrorists and terrorism into Canada in the form of the Tamil Eelam Government in Exile aka “ƒ”¹…”Provisional Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam’.  Nor should they be given an opportunity and space to have their clandestine headquarters grounded in Canada when even Lesotho has refused such a request.

Yours sincerely,

Asoka Weerasinghe                                                                                                                                                                                                                           (card carrying Conservative)

cc. Hon. Peter Van Loan, Minister for National Security
