President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressing a mammoth gathering of more than one hundred thousand people at the Samanala grounds in Galle said it was a victory for the country that the United States has clearly stated that there has been no record of Sri Lanka using rape as a military tactic.

He said accordingly the earlier statement to that effect has been withdrawn.

President Rajapaksa was referring to the raging controversy generated by a statement made by US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton addressing the United Nations Security Council.

Unprecedented crowds converged on the venue of the meeting to listen to the President.

The President said under his Ministry alone Rupees million 3280 have been spent for the development of Galle. Everywhere the most modern roads could be seen in the District. Tea and Rubber small holders are getting a good price. Plans are ahead to supply electricity for 100 percent of the population. Therefore, the President said it is essential to elect a very strong administration to carry on the work forward in the Provincial Council. He called it the responsibility and duty of the voters and requested the people to join in for an efficient administration.

It is important that US inform the world how these baseless allegations were formed. Who gave this information? Who said Sri Lankan armed forces raped a Tamil woman? Who paid the lobbyist to put forward these blatent lies? What is the part played by LTTE diaspora? What actions are taken to stop any more lies like these damaging Sri Lanka?

Why is it so hard for Tamil diaspora to say, ” We made mistake. We are sorry. We hurt our motherland. forgive us, We want to live in peace.”

Hilary had been betrayed by her husband and no woman can forget that. Thought of rape and sexual harassment is a daily misery for her. Sometimes we may have to forgive this discriminated woman!
