Sir:

ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”UN expert urges probe of Tamil executionƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ as announced to the media by Philip Alston, the UNƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s special rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary and arbitrary executions,ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ as shown on the video footage aired on BBCƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Chanel 4 last August is in itself troubling.

While Alston has decided to act God by continuing to hunt down Sri Lankan government as war criminals for having succeededƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in eliminating the most ruthless terrorists the Tamil TigersƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ to the chagrinƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ of the US, UK, Canada, Norway, France and EU countries who wanted a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”ceasefire; at the latter days of the war to save the annihilation of the Tamil Tiger leaders for them to fight another day, he has taken an unethical approach byƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ violating UN’s protocols by going to the media without presenting the findings of his independentƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ experts to the Sri Lankan government first for their study.

At the outset during his presentation to the media he mentions that his independent experts were unable to resolve several issues based on the absence of the video for a conclusion to be reached definitively.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Well, then, Alston, what the heck did your experts analyze to come to your conclusion to try and march the Sri Lankan Government to your gallows?

More over when Alston decides that the independent experts hired by the Sri Lankan Government who had submitted their case with technical details saying that this video was fraudulent, that these experts were not independent enough for his acceptance of their report, what makes Alston believe that the UN experts report will be accepted by the Sri Lankan Government and will not be dismissed by them as they too feel that the UN hired experts are not independent enough in their eyes?

This issue is going to be fun and games and would be interesting to see how all this is going to unravel itself, whether Alston will keep acting God dismissing stark facts which are in favour of the Sri Lankan GovernmentƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s arguments as ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-not compellingƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But one thing is for sure as day follows night, that this issue will certainly prove that the UN ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ is suspect in the eyes of the developing world, questioning the honesty and veracity of this supposed to be a neutral international body.

Nearly a million humans, including hundreds of thousands of children were murdered in the oil robbery in Iraq. Please Mr.Alston, speak about this henious crime and take some action. What about the six million civilians butchered in the Vietnam War? Don’t forget the Palestinians murdered day in and day out!. God, I nearly forgot the South African, Angolan and Namibians killed in tens of thousands in Diamond and Oil robberies. Mr.Alston will need hundreds of years to probe these vast crimes!

  2. Ratanapala Says:

Philip Alston – this excuse for a human being should put a time line on war crimes and take them on a first come- first basis. When he has finished the long list and if he is still alive by then he can finally come to Sri Lanka

Philp Alston crook is committing FRAUD. He must have verified the authencity of the original vedio which was in Tamil. The Tamil one looks and feel real, than the dubbed and doctore Sinhala version in which the Sinhalese words seems to be meaningless and not synchronized. Get the vedio he verified and the reports ,and check if the details are accurate by third parties.

UN must regain international trust by operating in a just, transparent and egalitarian manner with all countries, rich or poor. It would be a real shame and tragedy if the UN is used as a proxy for the economically dominant and internationally powerful countries to propagate international pressure tactics to economically and politically destabilize poorer countries.
