Wenuri Wijesinghe

My late father Nalin Wijesinghe was a Lieutenant Commander at the Sri Lanka Navy. He was killed in action on 29th of August, 1995 during a rescue operation conducted to free the crew of the merchant ship Irish Mona which was under control of LTTE terrorist at Mullativ seas. It happened just 8 months before I was born, therefore I was not fortunate like many children to get the love of a father. The story of his tragic death was told by my mother when I used to wonder why I didnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t have a father like my friends, in the Montessori. Today my fatherƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s dream of a free country has become a reality. I now finally see a reason for his sacrifice. Please help to protect my motherland which my father and many others died for. Finding out that your father has died is the most unbearable pain ever. LetƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s support our President who made my late fatherƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s dream a reality and made his sacrifice worthwhile.

  1. Harris Says:

    Dear Daughter Wenuri

You are a brave girl who has come forward to tell Sri Lankans that the war victory hasn’t been resulted from one man show and reminds the people that there are tens of thousands of war heroes who have sacrificed their lives to win the war including your never seen father. There are tens of thousands of children like you who have lost their fathers, brothers, mothers and sisters and are paying in silent with the pain from the bottom of your hearts being the living victims.

We all have to accept that it was the HE Mahinda Rajapaksa who stopped this disaster and has assured our children that no more fathers who serve in the forces be killed by the war.

You have done your part being a victim. Wish you all the best for a bright future.
