The style of addressing the public in the Election Campaign of 2010

It is with sadness that I write to say that people with some education and trying to be political leaders, try to capture the peopleƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s vote by stooping to the lowest level speeches in their public addresses. They themselves will regret later for saying what they have said. It is hard for any one to decide which way to go because of the foul and indecent language they use.

It is hard to get the message across when all they are trying to do is rouse feelings of disgust and hatred.

Have not we moved away from the 18th century politics where revolutions were generated ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with such speeches. The masses were encouraged to kill people and destroy valuable structures in the country. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Classic examples are the French Revolution and Chinese Cultural Revolution. Years later the people realise how wasteful that was. Hatred and Animosity must not conquer power.

All killings and destructions so far in the country must be attributed to the vile speeches given by politicians on all sides .

There is no need for such speeches. Explaining facts in a simple straight forward manner on all sides will have their benefits. This is the only way for people to think rationally because the countryƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s future depends on this. Once the election finishes individuals donƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t count.

How sad indeed is it that the so called leaders – and those who aspire to high office – should use foul and indecent language and in public. As you rightly say ‘all killings ….in the country must be attributed to the vile speeches given by politicians on all sides’. Yes, these people should realise how much damage they can do with intemperate and indecent language. They may imagine that the use of foul language enables them to better connect with the ‘common man’ but what they do not realise is that the public also loses respect for those who do not conduct themselves well and that includes in how they speak.
