Prabhakaran Reborn !

Ananda De Costa

The following table shows a predicted Presidential Election Results 2010. This prediction was made by the writer on the 25th January, based on his opinion, knowing the very predictable behaviour of the Sri Lanka voter.

These types of tables are very common in Singapore where statistical data of different racial groups are published frequently. Few people call them racists because the data are the facts. In that country, voting is not really secret; as the voting papers carry a number which can be traced down to find the voterƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s background.

One can note that the percentages of the minority groups in the above table may not be correct. However, the results are not affected on the behaviour of these groups. For example, 90% of Indian Tamils did not vote for Mahinda; they did not listen to Thondaman this time, opposite to writerƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s prediction.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  But the final result was still very close to the actual.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Christians, the group who consider them as westerners, always supported Tamil Tigers and they surely supported Fonseka.

But the good news is, in a Presidential Election, it is the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Sinhala2ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  groupƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s votes that count. They do not believe stories, promises and glorifications made by politicians, they may be poor but they are intelligent enough to vote correctly. This group consist of mostly ordinary Sinhala Buddhists. WhatƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Mahinda could have done was to supply them with the proper facts, which he probably did rightly, this time.

What is alarming, though, is the fact that Tiger supporters have rallied again behind a new evil man, believing again their own politicians, in the same way as so called innocent civilians rallied behind Prabhakaran.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Worst still, the new evil manƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  is more cruel and ruthless than Prabhakaran. This stupid and selfish individual gave speeches describing why he gave up Benz cars, it was a big thing to him, but not to ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Sinhala2ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚a group. He wanted Benz cars of his own, not those own by the government.

He is not a ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚war heroƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ because heroes risk their lives to save others. This hero killed the enemy to save money and earn a luxury life. A more luxury life than what he received in the end. He wanted more power to engage in free and fair corruption to create a new family tree.

Mahinda has all the rights( and responsibilities)ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  and mandate to arrestƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  this hero and put him behind bars for 15 years, same as what Lee Kuan Yew did to Singapore JVPians who were not even 1/10th of threat to a peaceful nation than Fonseka. Being a Buddhist, it will be good if Mahinda could give this man sometime to meditate, in order to find his problems and then release him early, upon realization of the truth (his cowardliness). He will realize this only under confinement, once he abandonedƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  his limitless greed and selfishness.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  His son-in-law, in the mean time, should do his studies in the USA and find a proper job to live a clean life.

Do not let him escape!

You talk about Singapore. I have lived in Singapore and have seen how strict the rules are against your kind of discriminating and trouble causing writing. Sri Lanka cannot be a Singapore until we have strict laws against such discriminatory expressions that offend people.

  2. De Costa Says:

    Pam,
I am very sorry if you and others are hurt by the generalized statement.

Aim of this writing is to show the emerging danger due to regrouping. There is no doubt that there are patriotic
Christians in Sri Lanka who never supported LTTE and the western conspiracy.
The problem is the tribalism allowed to flourish in Sri Lanka due to various reasons and the corruption being a way of life. As you rightly said many Army officers were corrupt. But the aim of Fonseka was never to eradicate these problems.
Singapore officially categorizes citizens as Chinese, Malay, Indian and Others. There are published and unpublished statistics on racial basis. One MP in the parliament in 1997 said Serangoon Road was very dark on weekends. He was officially in trouble but nothing really happened. Yes, Singapore does not allow press freedom like Sri Lanka. Recently a Christian group lawfully took over a organization PM SL Lee took firm action. This is what we need in Sri Lanka.
Again my apologies for the generalized statement, it was not meant for the purpose you thought.

  3. aldmal@eureka.lk Says:

Firstly Mr. Costa, understand that 40% of the population voted for Fonseka. Are they all Christians/Catholics? Also get into your head that Catholics should not be categorized along with the fundamental Christians who are scared of the bogey man Hela Urumaya, because of there stance regarding unethical; conversion. We Catholics have no such fears. because we believe it is only God’s will that can make a genuine conversion and not man.

I would like you to also bear in mind what our President said when we won the battle with the LTTE. There are no minorities but only those who love our motherland and those who don’t. You also term Christians/Catholics with western affiliation I will not comment on the non Catholic Christians, but it was FR. Joseph Vaz who contributed to our growth and he was an Indian. Christ was an Israelite not a westerner. Buddha too was from India.

So I think your comments are very racial, and seperatistic, which indirectly works against the Presidents ideology. We Catholics love our God before all and we love our Country and the leaders in Government because we believe our God put them there, and not by your petty analysis.

All I can say is may God bless you also

  4. Priyantha Abeywickrama Says:

Thank you Ananda De Costa for the real facts. It is undeniable like the whitewashing reader comments. This presidential election was not about making a choice between two options as such, it was more like choosing life or death. SF did a wonderful thing by coming to the election. He gave the chance to choose the side, but no middle ground. Even I had to take the side of MR, quite contrary to my own interests. Those who picked SF have no right to talk. As I said in another comment, The number 4,173,185 must be brought to below zero by all available means before any more elections of this kind are held.

Dear pam and aldmal, both of you sound more likes alien to me than people living in Sinhale’ (I use this term to identify our country because it was the term used up to 1815. If we are independent as we claim, then we should use the same name. I hope you read another relevant set of my comments made earlier. There is a long history to find reasons. LTTE killed any Sinhala person simply because they belonged to the Sinhala community. It is the same for Tamils. Christians killed Muslims and many other natives because they were Muslims or non-Christians. Muslims killed Christians, Buddhists and others simply because they were not Muslims. You too face the same consequences if you associate with any group as the majority of that group decides your own future. The last election decided who are the enemies of Sinhala people. If you did not support SF, go and tell your colleagues in no uncertain terms to change their behaviour or to face the consequences.

Recent events proved the real face of your group among others. When it comes to crucial times, your people side with them not with Sinhala people. I can not understand your comments made as believers of Christianity. If you have forgotten the true history and about your Christian heritage, let me remind you that you carry the burden of your ancestors who sided with the invaders just like the majority of your folk did during this election. If you think you are different stop your nonsense and dump your pathetic belief. For that matter, I was a Buddhist by birth. But, when I realised that it was of alien origin and that it contributed to destroy our history and heritage, I became a Sinhalist, a person who love life and living longer, the main pillar of Sinhalaness, and a mortal enemy of those contributing to others’ deaths by action, inaction or faith.

Those who claim Singapore is a developed country and Sinhale’ should follow them should be thrown out of the country. I know that place much better and a friend of mine who lived there went to US because it was such a pathetic racist hell-hole dominated by a bunch of criminals coming from Euro-Chinese mixed background. They will become the hell-hole of street beggars when we implemented some of our plans. They are rich because we make them so. Those believing in aliens do have very little in common to share with us as proven by their own words and deeds. They think that destruction is development. If so, they have ample opportunities to join their masters while leaving our country alone.

Since there is challenge for the truth, I like to tell that those who collaborated with LTTE were either Sinhalised Tamils (JJ, WK), Sinhala speaking burghers of mixed European origin or Christians. The root cause of this recent conflict goes back to robberies and rapes committed by people of Christian faith who worked in the north in the public service. Tamils mistook them as Sinhala and hated us for their crimes.

It is not gods who picked MR, but those who voted for him. I hope MR understands his true power base and act accordingly than becoming another SWRD. Failure to do so will have horrible consequences. Indeed we are coming closer to the days of final judgement.

  5. cassandra Says:

Congratulations on getting your prediction right; you have certainly done better than that hapless astrologer who was reported as having said that President Mahinda Rajapakse’s political career would come to a sad end last September. I am sure however that you appreciate you are not alone in getting the prediction right. A lot of others got it right as well. And I imagine they did so, unlike you, without the benefit of complicated tables and, one hopes, without some of your wonky thinking.

I agree with what pam and aldmal have said in regard to your comments that “Christians, the group who consider them as westerners, always supported Tamil Tigers and they surely supported Fonseka”. I find your comments nothing more than a reckless statement of assumptions. On what basis do you state that “Christians consider themselves as westerners”? And what proof have you got that “they always supported the Tamil Tigers”? Your statement that “they surely supported Fonseka” is a clumsy deduction flowing from your previous clumsy assumptions.

The President has been re-elected with the support of all communities and the country can now look to him to provide good government for the benefit of all. The country can never progress if people continue to think in terms of Buddhists and non Buddhists and Sinhalese and Tamils in the manner your article does.

The President has won a decisive victory but I doubt if even he will consider he has been given a “mandate to arrest” Sarath Fonseka “and put him behind bars for 15 years, same as what Lee Kuan Yew did to Singapore JVPians”. Nor do I think Mahinda Rajapakse would ever contemplate any such thing. Not everything that the former Singaporean President did is worthy of emulation.

You conclude your penultimate paragraph saying Sarath Fonseka’s “son-in-law, in the mean time, should do his studies in the USA and find a proper job to live a clean life”. Your follow this up immediately with the sentence, “Do not let him escape”. Pray, tell me how is the poor devil to pursue his studies in the US if you won’t let him “escape”?

  6. PRIYAN WIJEYERATNE Says:

I am a Christian myself by birth. I do not see any problem with Costas article. One thing I support is not to let de-general Fuckseks (SF) go free without clearing stir he made while running for the top job like a ”gona”’. Lock him up or chase him back to Oklahoma. He is useless in SL.

  7. pam Says:

    Mr De Costa

I appreciate your apology. Apology accepted, no hard feelings. We are all Sri Lankans and that is what matters, to love and wish the best for the country.
