Present Government will absorb lot more support of the Muslim and Tamil voters and their representatives in the north and east in the next election as now it is confirmed that it will be the present government which is going to develop the nation including the north for the next seven years to come.

In this process it is necessary to obtain the support of the Muslim congress as well, as this party was a main supporter of the government while Mr. Ashraff was the leader of the Muslim congress. Mrs. Ferial Ashraff is already supporting present government and it will be possible to widen the already existing support base for the government under present circumstances.

President Rajapakse has won Beruwala, Akurana (Harispaththuwa) and areas like Kekirawa, and Mawenella where there is a significant Moor population which is a good sign for the nation when we consider future trends in Sri Lankan politics.

There is considerable support of upcountry Tamils as indicated by election victories for the government in Badulla, Kandy and Mathale districts where there is a large Tamil population. Government has won seats in the Jaffna district as well where there is a predominant Tamil population for example Kayts.

Similarly government will have to widen the support base among Tamil community who has actually given up violence and separatism and those who are committed to peace and democracy in order to establish long standing peace, democracy, social development, moral development, economic development, prosperity and political stability in Sri Lanka.
