A Heavy Price To Pay For Being A Pawn Of The Nation’s Adversaries!

Fmr.Gen Sarath Fonseka has now become a victim of the Nation’s adversaries translating to UNF baiting as well as being a pawn of Ranil Wickremasinghe and his motley alliance with the JVP, TNA and the entire anti Government coalition which tried to unseat the President with all the wrong means and rhetoric and will pay the price of facing a court martial.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Everything in the General’s conduct as he ran against the President glaringly pointed to a breach of many protocols both military as well as legislative and the man had the audacity to utter threats and unsubstantiable tough talk where all the while his vulnerabilities towards where all his actions would lead him were incredibly transparent and hinged only to his self confidence that he would topple the Rajapaksha regime and take charge but all this has backfired on him now.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The Rajapaksha Administration does not dwell on lies and innuendo to carry them as the true champions of the Nation as did the Fonseka entourage which was proven by the outcome of the Presidential Election and the response of the people of Sri Lanka where the once worthy General now finds himself in dire straits and perhaps he might have been better off had he sought a safe haven in the country which also baited him in a sense and egged him on which leaves nothing to the imagination that it was also a possible reason for his bravado and it will be interesting to see what that country’s response would be now that Gen. Fonseka whom it virtually championed faces a court martial and the puniitive action that goes with it!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ That Gen. Fonseka was playing with fire has been made pellucid and crystal clear as just recently he challenged President Rajapaksha in the open media to arrest him if he can. while waving around a so called copy of alleged plan to assassinate him which of course leaves much to speculation that it seems to be a retaliatory move to counter the strong evidence uncovered by National Intelligence according to very reliable sources,of a Fonseka Coup attempt on the Rajapaksha Regime with strong opposition backing!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ When former presidential candidate and retd. Gen.Sarath Fonseka challenged President Mahinda Rajapaksa to arrest him if there were any valid charges without using Emergency Regulations to lock up his security personnel on baseless allegations, he was truly forcing the hand of the President who had with him all the ammunition needed to apprehend the General on charges of treason and plotting against the Sovereign Nation of Sri Lanka and in this respect it seems as though the dragnet to arrest such individuals should also have closed in on the leaders of the Opposition, the JVP as well as that of the TNA whose rhetoric and body language was not exactly Nation friendly as they egged on the hapless and misguided Fonseka who should have known better than to throw in his lot with the undesirables of the Wickremasinghe entourage et al and whose political future within Sri Lanka seems all but over!.

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ In retrospect, what a difference it would have made to the Nation had Gen. Fonseka thrown in his lot solidly behind his CEO, won his unfettered confidence and disregarded the UNF in its greed to grab power which eventually was his own need also! What great heights he could have risen to as a proud son of Lanka who helped defeat the greatest enemies of the Nation in generations which of course he has now squandered through his myopic judgements where in the end his actions have totally betrayed him as an enemy of the State and shockingly so as he was a Sinhalese who eventually threw in his lot with the enemies of the State including the supporters of the very terrorist group he helped eliminate!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The utter bravado of him saying “I challenge President Mahinda Rajapaksa to take me into custody if he can.” seems to be his Swan Song, no pun intended albbeit laced in stupidity as he has indeed been taken into custody where he might be offered clemency for his wrongs, treated according to the Geneva Convention and forgiven for his misguided actions although the Statutes of the Nation may prove to be unsympathetic towards the final verdict about how he should be judged whether it be as a misguided simpleton who rose to great military heights or a conniving treasonous individual who beleived in his capacity to overrun a nation!

ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ It might however be expected that the Presient in all his compassion might play a role towards rehabilitating Fonseka’s anti national ambitions and give him a chance at redeeming himself through actions conducive towards the better interests of Sri Lanka although realistically this seems far fetched at the present time.
