Four baby elephant to release Lunugamwehera National park

Four young elephants who form the ninth batch of elephants to be released from Udawalawa Elephant Transit homeƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ were set free to PAAYUU WEWA ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ in Lunugamwehera National Park by Hon. Minister of Environment and Natural resources Patali Champika Ranawaka today. Ven.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Wewaldoowe Gnanaprabha Thero blessed the baby elephantsƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ with Pirith Pan while they were being released to the new home.

The released group of elephants included one female Rani (6 yrs) which was found from war-hit Thirukkovil and three males Olee (5yrs) from Kahambiliwela, Piccaso (5yrs) from Angammadilla , Polonnaruwa and Tolido (5yrs) from Thirappane.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ 
Six more young elephants are slated to be released during this year. The Udawalawe ElephantƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚  Transit Home of Department of Wild Life Conservation Under the Ministry of Environment and Natura Resources has so far successfully released 64 Elephants into the wilderness in eight batches since 1998.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
