In furtherance to my Statement in Parliament that I would not be supporting the UNP as the present Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe did not honour his word by appointing one of my nominees on the National List and that I would continue to be in the opposition but would support the Government on issues relating to the best interests of the country and the people of Nuwara Eliya.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ I wish to state that during the Presidential elections I was able to secure more votes for the UNP than Mr.Arumugam Thondaman and that Mr.Thondaman was able to secure more votes during the General elections owing to the aggressive actions by his supporters. If Thondaman claims he is more popular than me, then did he work against President Rajapaksa to secure more votes for General Fonseka? Did he work secretively for General Sarath Fonseka ? You cant fool all the people all the time.
