Shameful and Racist Discrimination by Christian Solidarity Movement

Kumar Moses

As a Christian I was ashamed and shocked by the news report ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢¢”š¬…” ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-Colombo Christians remember war deadƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. (http://www.ucanews.com/2010/05/20/christians-remember-war-dead/). This event organized by an organisation called the Christian Solidarity Movement was actually a disgrace since it only concentrated on ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-innocent civiliansƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚ who died in the war. How about 27,000 security forces personnel who died? Why didnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t the religious event include them? By specifically not including security forces personnel or angels of peace, the Christian Solidarity Movement (CSM) has showed its highly discriminatory attitude to the whole affair.

A CMS member by the name Mahinda Namal had commented that ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ…-the government is celebrating its war victory ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚¦. but it is not concerned about the thousands of innocent Tamils who diedƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”š‚. This is an ultra racist statement. Having members of such racist disposition puts the whole CSM into disrepute. May be itƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s racism that made him blind to the reality. Muslims, Sinhalese and Indians too died in this conflict, not just Tamils. Their souls also need to be remembered.

The CSM must forthwith apologise for this highly discriminatory and racist endeavour done with the association of religion. As the Holy Bible says, anything done with racist and discriminatory intentions in mind would not be pleasant to Jesus. Such shallow ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”prayersƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ will be rejected by God as God considers everyone to be His children.

CSM should have specially prayed for Sri Lankan security forces personnel for bring an atmosphere of peace. Thanks to their actions which were done with GodƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s grace, over 3,950 persons survived for the past 12 months. War killed on average 3,950 persons every year since 1983. Ending the war means saving these lives. Obviously such a great feat couldnƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢t have been achieved without the guidance of the Holy Trinity and Holy Virgin Mary.

May the Holy Spirit enlighten the racist minds who selectively commemorated war casualties to shed communalism and appreciate the fact that all peoples are GodƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s children.

    Kumar Moses,

Mahinda Namal and others of christian movements are definitely Sinhala cowards as they seem to be afraid to pronounce the fact that they are Sinhala Catholics/christians. The Sinhala Catholics/christians are equal in number to the Tamil Catholics/christians in Sri Lanka. However because of the laxity of the Sinhala catholics/christians including the clergy to call a spade a spade, Tamil catholic/christians and clergy have hijacked the catholic church in Sri lanka.

Christ has very clearly stated “Give to Ceaser what is his and to God his”. As Sri Lankans our alleigence on earth is to Mother lanka and it is our duty to protect our nation from terrorists. Lot of our brave brothers and sisters gave their lives for our tomorrows fighting LTTE terrorist vermin and it is them who we must remember along with civilians who unfortunately died in unavoidable circumstances. The LTTE terrorists must rot in hell for the carnage they carried out in our beautiful island given to us by God for the past 20/30 years.
