ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Having recently returned from Sri Lanka, I see the absurdity of Australia still entertaining Sri Lankan asylum claims. There are no ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”pushƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ factors as Labor politicians say but itƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s the ƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ”¹…”pullƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢ factor from Australia that bring the boatloads here.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The defeat of the Tamil Tiger terrorists brought peace to Sri Lanka and anyone can now travel anywhere across the country without fear of a bomb blast or suicide attack. The presidential election and general election returned a very stable government. Tamils occupy key positions in the government and serve as professionals.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Yet, in the West a different picture is painted of Sri Lanka to continue the flow of Tamil asylum seekers.
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ The boats leave Sri Lanka only because a strong support Network in Australia assures them the Australian largesse within months. ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚ Australia is now the only country naƒÆ’†’ƒ”š‚¯ve enough to accept these economic refugees from Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’-¡ƒ”š‚
