President Mahinda Rajapaksa has once again robustly shown the world and the western tyrants that Sri Lanka, though a small nation, would never ever bow down to dictates or commands that would infringe on the sovereignty, integrity and self-respect of the nation and the people. It is indeed a great blessing for Sri Lankan to have a leader of his iron-willed and sterling caliber and the current events convince that if Sri Lanka is to rise as a prominent nation in Asia, the country should be under his life-long leadership, as in many fast developing Middle East countries.

The Chairman of the Panel, IndonesiaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s Marzuki Darusman was a member of the IIGEP (the so-called Independent International Group of Eminent Persons) which attempted at the instigation of INGO vultures, to make undue interference in Sri LankaƒÆ’‚¢ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¾‚¢s internal affairs and hence made defunct by the President and consequently holds a grudge against Sri Lanka and highly biased against Sri Lanka.ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬ The second panel member Steven R. Ratner has co-authored a book supporting terrorist outfits including the LTTE and is very much sympathetic to LTTE terrorists. ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬The conditions laid down include ensure implementation of 17th Amendment, repeal the Emergency Regulations, Repeal the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA), Amend the Code of Criminal Procedure, Legislate enabling individuals to submit complaints to the UN Human Rights Commission, Implement opinions of UN Human Rights Committee, Extension of invitations to UN Organizations, Respond to cases currently reported to be pending before the UN Working Group on Enforced Disappearances, Publication of the final report of the 2008 Commission of Enquiry, Publication of the list of former LTTE combatants held in detention, Granting of access to places of ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬detention, adoption of National Human Rights Action Plan by Parliament, and Ensure journalists to exercise their professional duties without harassment.ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬

Ranil Wickremasinghe, Karu Jayasuriya, Mano Ganeshan, Rauf Hakeem, various INGOs and the Tamil Diaspora, through various organizations and attempted to blackmail the government and canvass support of international bodies against the war, and against the integrity of the country.

ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬These demands in fact are a colossal insult on Sri Lanka and its people and it is really admirable that the President displaying his iron will once again and his noble characteristic of placing the integrity of Sri Lanka over and above everything has rejected these demands outright.ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬ He has said that he is not going to bow down to these demands and betray the country for getting a few hundred dollars in return.ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬

ƒÆ’‚£ƒ¢-¡‚¬ƒ¢-¡‚¬All Sri Lankans should take up this EU insult gravely and seriously. They should organise protest marches at each and every doorstep of the Embassies of the EU countries in Colombo and similarly Sri Lankan expatriates should stage such protests at EU Headquarters in Brussels and in front of Parliament buildings of EU countries demanding withdrawal of these demands and extend an apology for insulting Sri Lanka and its proud and self-esteemed people.
